It is wonderful to wake up and not have the weight of the world on my shoulders. Susie looks better and is coming out more. Hungry AND eating. Purring. Yeaaaaa! She has gotten a little more difficult to test and shoot because she is waiting for the "other shoe to drop". The blast of prednisolone. Really wish I could give the injections. She accepts the shots very well. Maybe when she is running low on the liquid I can approach the intern about giving injections instead of the liquid squirt.

I hope everyone has a nice, early fall day!

Looks like I am getting lots of 3 oz cans of Mackerel and Lamb and a couple of bags of the air-dried food from the contest at Ziwi. I have never tried any air-dried food and don't know what to expect. Can anyone shed any light on this food and whether their cats will eat it? @Sienne and Gabby (GA)

Usually the freeze dried is mixed with water. See if she loves it dry. If a hit then try sprinkling it on the wet and hopefully she will eat it all. Looks like she just might get the prednisolone side effect of being hungry. Not all do but when it happens it sure makes things easier .

GREAT news! I buy the air dried/freeze dried treats, Mr Kitty goes NUTS for them. As in trying to hold back a ferocious beast from shoving his head in the bag just so I can drop them on the floor.

It's any of the raw freeze/air dried, I've tried a lot of brands. Settled on PureBites just because it's most reliable to get around here.
I like Pure Bites, too. In fact, I just had to give a pill to my Little Girl (that's her name - a feral rescue) and afterwards I gave her Pure Bites shrimp. They love them. They're like little popcorn shrimp size. :-)

You know, Summer, at times over the last few weeks, I was afraid that I was being too pushy about the Prednisolone. But I thought... "oh well, if Summer doesn't like me anymore for pushing for Pred... so be it... that will make me sad, but I just hope Susie will get a chance to try it and maybe feel better." I hope you know I just care about you and your little Susie!

Oh, Summer. You KNOW that I am happy to read this good news about Susie!! This has made my day… my week! Isn’t it amazing how fast she is turning around! I feel so sorry that she had to wait that long because of the vets dragging their feet. But anyway, things are looking up!
And I have you to thank for pushing me to push my vets harder. You would not let me give up until I tried the pred. You may have saved her life. I ALWAYS knew your place was on this forum. :bighug:

Susie's appetite greatly improved within 24 hours of the first pred dose. She is not quite as hungry as she was yesterday but that is okay with me. As long as she is eating enough to be well. I'll have to see how she likes the freeze dried. Ideally, I would love it if she ate it mixed with water since she needs the water but I just hope it is a good, healthy, low carb food that she will eat one way or the other. It will be a "novel protein" for her (I think).

Hope Susie goes NUTS for the freeze dried food. My Kitty sounds like a "hoot" when it comes to the treats.:woot::woot::woot:

Susie never liked the Pure Bites shrimp. They are tiny little things. Susie used to like the salmon and turkey, before she got sick. I'll have to see if she is interested again.

Like I said in my earlier comment you may have saved her life, Suzanne. Thank you for pushing. I know you care about us otherwise you would not spend so much time being "pushy" (just kidding):smuggrin::smuggrin::bighug:

I don't feel like we are quite out of the dark yet. It is still early with the pred and who knows what will happen down the road or if there was any damage to her during this long battle waiting for the pred. I have more questions about IBD and Lymphoma. I have an appt. with the intern on the 26th and hope to get more answers.

Well, Susie is eating fine but she is back to not feeling well today. She was better yesterday. I have to keep a close eye on her. This is totally bumming me out. I thought we had turned a corner. Has anyone ever had a bad experience with the cerenia. She has been on it for two days now and I'm wondering if this isn't what is making her ill. I can't imagine it is the psyllium husk which she has also been on. She did poop so that is good. Just trying to figure out the sudden swing back to not feeling well.

Yes. I agree. I’m just happy that she’s feeling better.

Hang in there. Baby steps. Don’t be downcast. It’s premature.

I would try not to change too many things at once. Give her another few days, if still not feeling well then start to try to narrow it down. I know it feels like forever when they're not feeling well.

Hey! Just fyi about the Ziwi Peak air dried.. it's completely different than the freeze dried. It's texture is like beef jerkey.. so it won't mix with water really. My cats didn't like it..but it's great quality. Freeze dried will be like primal or stella and chewys. My cats love the Primal rabbit. Those you do mix with water or can sprinkle on top as well. ♡ Hope she finds something she loves♡ glad to hear she is better ♡

Thank you, Amy. I appreciate a new comment from a new friend. I just won a contest with Ziwi and they are sending me some air dried and canned food. I look forward to getting some novel proteins for Susie. I hope I can change her diet some day.

By the way, my vision isn't too good but is your profile picture of two kitties holding paws?

I am going to take a break from the forum for a few days. I think that all my efforts to help Susie, and all the wonderful attention she has gotten, is just driving my blood pressure up. I can't seem to get her in a good place for long so I'm going to stop trying. Whatever happens - happens. I need to let go a little bit because there seems to be little I can do for her at this point. We will leave it in God's hands. If she gets better on the pred that will be wonderful. If not, I'm letting go. I just can't live like this anymore and I certainly don't want her to have to either. I look forward to posting positive comments in the future. For now, thanks to everyone for supporting her in this journey.

Will be thinking of you two..♡♡♡ hugs and peace and love to you
Hi Summer, I hope you are still on the Forum. Such good news but normal to have the ups and downs, we did with Funny Face. Try not to get discouraged, everything takes time. An overnight miracle would be the best but not realistic. She has to rebuild her little body one step at a time. We are all praying for both of you. :bighug::bighug:

I recently bought Dolly aid dried ZiwiPeak chicken. It was mainly going to be used during the night so I no longer would have to get up at 3 am snd give her fresh food. It is a complete meal containing everything they need, all healthy ingredients. It is given the same as any other food, canned etc. but not as much, no water to add so it does not go bad. Dolly likes it, does not love it, but it definitely serves her needs. Just like FortiFlora, it works!!! :joyful::joyful:

I will check in on Susie, like I always do, while you take a break. Get some rest and put on those patience pants, buy a second pair, just in case. :p.

You are both always in my thoughts and prayers. Sending well wishes for your mom :bighug::):bighug::cat::bighug::) I will pm you also just in case you off the board already. Take good care.

I understand your need to take a break from the forum. This is a hard journey and posting frequent updates can take a lot out of you. Take care and hope you return soon. You have been a great friend to me and others here. We have all benefited from your encouragement. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
