10/5 Inky PMPS 81 - please advise!

Oh boy, do I need advice! Inky has been testing in greens and blues for days so I'm scared to give her any insulin. I've held a lot of shots but did give her 0.1 units last night because I'm nervous about not giving her any insulin at all! Since she has food allergies, I've been trying to do trials to see what she can eat (duck and rabbit) that's lower carb than the Royal Canin wet food she was prescribed, which is 15-16 carbs. She had an allergic reaction to what I gave her yesterday and was also not eating much a couple days prior. Her behavior has been both normal (affectionate and playful) and abnormal (cranky and lethargic due to being hungry and itchy). I'm paranoid the meter I'm using is giving me wrong numbers so I ordered a Relion online and am waiting for it to be shipped. I also need to call about getting the control solution to test both meters.

She already ate some of her food tonight so I can't really stall, but I desperately want others to look at my spreadsheet and give their thoughts.

It looks like she might be going into remission. How much is she eating? It’s important she eat as cats can get fatty liver pretty quickly if not eating 1/2 to 3/4 of the normal amount and if they lose weight too fast. With these numbers you are correct to not give insulin in my opinion. Normal bg on a human meter is roughly 50-120.

I could not get a reading this morning. She hid from me and I had to leave for jury duty. She's been eating better since yesterday evening. I checked her weight either yesterday or the day before and she hadn't lost weight.

That’s good.

Let’s take it cycle by cycle. If you can get a test 3-4 hours after eating that will help. If the pancreas is coming back to life it will be lower or remain green. It also depends on if she will eat. Are you able to syringe feed if necessary? If over 150 you could try to shoot .10 again.

I've never syringe fed before, but I don't need to. She's eating just fine right now with the Royal Canin and Natual Balance combo. I'll keep that up for now and try to transition entirely to the NB since it's lower carb. Testing her 3-4 hours after she eats will be tricky for me this week because of my schedule but I'll try.

Do the +3-4 only when you can. Don’t stress about it. It’s just a way to check the pancreas. Being normal without insulin shows it’s helping. For now she’s been low enough and hasn’t gone up so it doesn’t matter.
