Glad to start a new day today with the vet behind us. Here’s a pic to see if it works. If so I’ll post pics of George’s labs/exam results yesterday.

Hey, it worked! How didn’t I know how to do this before!

Lab/exam results from yesterday. The highlighting is mine. He just had a dental exam and X-rays in January, so nothing is recommended on the teeth until 2022.

Oh I see they did a poo test. Yeah, I can't seem him enjoying them getting that sample. How do they even do it?

Haha thankfully that one I actually brought in. Then a needle for the urine…I’m actually not sure how they even do that portion for cats that aren’t sedated??

Now that George is almost 12 I feel like I should take him in every six(ish) months to make sure he’s doing ok, but geesh, it’s so hard on him that I’m thinking I should only do it once a year unless something comes up. He’s the most social cat that I know…he loves when people come over and always greets them and wants pets. But when we’re at the vet it’s a complete 180, and he’s soooo bad.

That makes a lot more sense. I've heard of them taking samples at the vet, but wouldn't it just be easier to bring one from home?

I have read it's good to do it every 6mo, dental checkup and bloodwork. But if he needs sedation, that's something that would make me lean toward less often than every 6 months. I don't know. How did he behave after the vet? It's a tough call.

That is utterly adorable that he greets people.
I guess he can sense the stress and there are so many new smells and sounds at the vet, and well, he's a cat.

He was kind of out of it the rest of the evening…wobbly and sleepy (and very hungry from not having eaten most of the day). He also had an accident in his carrier on the way some so we had to clean him, which made him even more irritated of course. He seemed back to his normal self this morning though :cat:

Oh buddy. Scary I bet. I wonder what they use to put them under.
Number 1 or 2? The worst either way. Temp does NOT like anyone near his butt. That's his one safe place. Shall not be touched. He turns into a ferret when I run after him with paper towels.
George is probably very relieved things are back to normal.

This is what they used (although I know nothing about it).

Maybe in six months I’ll be brave enough to take him in again haha. I know I will want to get another dental exam/xrays by then.

Now I just need his numbers to come back down to those pre-vacation numbers again!

Well. That there's a mouthful. That's gonna take a while to look up. Ketamine I do recognize.
Yeah, with dental issues often pulling kitties out of remission by causing infection, you want to stay on top of that with him having diabetes.
