Susie seems better today. Came out looking for food. Started eating her breakfast right away. Her AMPS are more normal. I'll watch her today and might cancel her vet appt. It is a "standby" appt. which means we would have to wait in the car until someone could fit us in. I really don't have the money since I have to take Kali to the vet on Monday but will certainly take Susie in if she is not better.

Susie says thanks to everyone who has been concerned about her. She is doing much better today. :)

She is sending all of you a love wink.

Glad you were able to get a vet appointment today. I'm "ok" with a day or two without much food but anymore and I really start to worry. The FF higher carb foods I keep on hand are Gravy Lovers Beef Feast in Beef Flavor Gravy (chart says it's 20%) and Gravy Lovers Chicken Feast in Chicken Flavor Gravy (chart says it's 15%). It's interesting that they're both Gravy Lovers but different % carbs. I almost ALWAYS give the 15%. He seems to respond pretty quickly.

As for transdermal mirtazapine, I use it for my pancreatitis kitty sometimes. It goes on the skin in the inner ear and instructions and vet both said to make sure I wear a glove when applying it. It definitely increases his appetite.

I think beef just naturally has more carbs than chicken. I need to get some Gravy Lovers Chicken Feast. I thought 15% was a m/c? I always get confused with the boarder between l/c, m/c and h/c. I think l/c is 0 to 9%, m/c is 10 to 15% and h/c is 16% and up? Is this correct? Also, I have used the Mirataz on the inner ear but my prescription says to put it on the outside of pinna. I think that is a mistake.

Hi Summer I did a search here and found this that a member posted
Low carb is generally considered under 10%.

Between 11% and 17% is medium carbs.

18% and over is high carb.

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Gourmet Beef Feast in Gravy 20% High Carbs

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Gourmet Chicken Feast in Gravy. 15% Med Carbs

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Turkey Feast in Gravy. 15% Med Carbs

I am very relieved to hear that she’s eating again! Everyone has an off day (or two) I guess. I hope she will have a good day. Susie looks very cute in that photo! I totally understand about the vet appointments. I like to space mine out, but my cats frequently have other plans! :-(

Thanks, Diane. I appreciate the clarification on the carbs. I'm surprised that 16% and 17% are considered m/c. I guess my 20% beef Gravy Lovers is not a high h/c. I do mark my m/c and h/c foods with a marker and separate the m/c and h/c on my pantry shelf. It is a huge help when I need to grab something quickly. Flat yellow today but glad she is eating better. Have a great day "Ms. Night Owl". :D

I do understand about the vet appts. especially when you have as many feline friends that you take care of. I'm just happy that she is eating better. Now, I just need her out of the lemon tree. Thanks for stopping by, Suzanne, and I hope you have a nice day! :)

I'm so glad to hear Susie is eating better. Cats have their off days, just like us humans!

Flat yellow cycle happening. Will you be able to monitor later when she starts to come down?

Yes, just wish it wasn't at night.

You too, Summer. I hope Susie won’t drop too low tonight! Blues for the night would be lovely for sleeping.

Hi Gina. I want to see some "action". Just not at night. Hope the fortune cookie is wrong for tonight.
I know what you mean. I really need my rest at night, too. Like we all do, I have had quite a few nights with inadequate sleep. When I wasn’t up checking BG, I was either lying awake worrying or half-sleeping in some horrendous dream world. I have found that listening to podcasts can help. I really like Get Sleepy Podcast. It’s just stories you listen to without getting all involved in details. Most of the time I am out before the story really gets going and I have no idea what it was about.

I am not technically savey. I don't even know how to get a podcast in my bedroom at night. All I want to do is sleep but I set my alarm when I have to for Susie. I am, however, looking forward to your Alabama beating Florida on Saturday. Watch out for Florida's defense. I hope your new quarterback is prepared. By the way, Bama Kitty needs an increase - just like I think my Susie needs. When you post tomorrow, put a "?" in front of your post. Bama Kitty needs some attention. Please, don't be afraid to ask for help. Your cat's glucose is way too high. Thank you for stopping by, Gina. Prayers that both our kitties come down.

Can you get Bama Kitty off of the dry food? Please try. It might make a lot of difference in the blood glucose readings.

When he feels good, he will sometimes eat a 3 oz. can of l/c wet but he always wants his dry. And it is Dr. Elsey’s salmon kibble which is 9% carb. I do plan on paring down the dry when his numbers get lower and he is eating better. Lately, I have just been glad he is eating. I plan on doing a curve Saturday with an increase on Sunday if all goes well.
