Hi friends!
Sunny loves his low carb diet - and is eating only low carb pates (FF, Sheba, Feline Natural, Blue Buffalo Wilderness salmon).....but he is gaining weight and the vet wants to see him lose.
All time high before diabetes: 18.5#
Weight at diagnosis in April: 16#
Curent weight: 17.1#
Ideal weight: 14#
The vet said he should have between 210 (if not active) and 263 (if active) calories per day. He is not an "active" cat. So I've sort of settled on 230 calories/day for him...
We don't have him regulated yet and he's hungry all the time so this is going to be rough on him. Today so far I've given him breakfast at 9am and a small snack at noon, and he's already used up 62 calories of his allowed 230. And it's 12:26 now and he's begging for more.
I'm just not sure we're going to be able to do this.
Is there a good food that's low carbs and low cal? I know those two aspects are at odds with each other...I do the keto diet myself and don't count calories - just sticking to low carb foods is effective at losing.
Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you
