Hello - it's been a little while since I came in asking for advice. My husband is still the primary shot giver because Dora loves him best :-O and he writes the numbers in a log, so I just went in and transferred them all to the spreadsheet. If anyone can opine on Dora's reoccuring lower numbers I'd be grateful. I'm sure I have not followed either TR or SLGS as they're meant to be followed, try to make adjustments based on the numbers but Dora has a tendency to have nadirs at shot time - and at bedtime they're sometimes lower than I am comfortable with since I am never sure if they're going to drop more.

Dora gets shots at 9a/9p so we usually test her when we get up with the dog at 5-6. We don't usually test in the middle of the night but we try to check during the day (or I thought we did - when I put the numbers in, I saw there were a lot of days when she got tested only at preshot. No complete curve in a while.)

We reduced her the other day because of one of her lows, but now she has gone low on the *new* low. What do we do if she goes back up by 9 tonight? I'll try to get another reading now that it's been another half hour since she ate. Thank you!

Hi. With SLGS you reduce if ever she drops under 90. It’s hard to decide on a dose with all the changes recently. I think I would try 2.25 for a week unless she drops under 90. The bigger depot want have influenced some of the drops but it would be a place to start

I agree with Elise. I'd drop to 2.25 and hold that dose for at least 7 days unless she drops below 90 again.

With Lantus, dosing is based on how LOW it takes them with only a little consideration given to the PS. With Dora being a long-term diabetic, it's important not to hold a dose that's not working too long as well as giving the scheduled dose at lower pre-shots

My worry is always that she will keep dropping. That’s why we panic. I’ll try the 2.25. I really thought we’d hold the 2t for a week and have to go up again. That’s what happens every other time. She’s eating again so hopefully she won’t drop further before her shot in two hours.

thank you for answering!
