Away all day 8/27

I will be away from home for the entire day Friday. I’ll be gone 7am to 7pm. He will be fed when I leave and I can arrange a snack mid day. But to BS readings will be done. His mid day numbers have been good. I feel confident in that however I know there is risk. I know it’s said better to be high than low. Depending on his AM BS I was thinking maybe just drop dose him? What do you think?

Some of what you can do depends on the cycle before, and what you see for AMPS. What time do you normally do your AMPS? Ie. where is that in relation to being gone from the house at 7:00 a.m.?

Hi Steve, for the future, if you're using a Libre, you can get a standalone reader that is separate from your smartphone that you could give to a sitter to scan Oreo's sensor while you are away. If you get the Reader, you have to scan the sensor with that first in the hour after you apply it, then you can scan afterwards using your smartphone. The Libre is great for cat sitting scenarios because of the standalone Reader. Thankfully I have a sitter who knows how to test, but most of them don't.

AMPS is at 8am the person I can have check would be around +7-8

I will look into that, he’s got a Libra on. I have to figure out the sitter stuff. We have a sitter we’ve had for years and had her come once per day if we were gone more than two. I hope we stay in these fine doses however unless I preload (I know not recommend) doses. I really don’t trust anyone at moment to fine line dose him. I have a sitter coming in once a day when I am at work to check on Ruby. It's the best I can do given the circumstances. +7-8 might be a little late for his Levemir onset though. Can the sitter come earlier, say at +5 or +6? Seems like that's when Oreo likes to drop low.

Even if you get the reader now it won't work because you already activated the sensor with a smartphone. It was a suggestion for a future sensor. Here's a video from the Freestyle website about using the reader with a smartphone:

It’s going to be a great day and for me. I feel a little selfish and that’s why I’m not staying over. But I need a day away. I’m coming off a huge case load at work, finally after months over overtime and still not being able to keep up. The light at the end of the tunnel is here. I’m going up to Disney °o° World. I’m a Passholder and love going and visiting for a few hours.
