Dear Pamela, and all in the path of Henri,
Stay safe in the storm! We will be praying for you and your family. If you have some of those blue "cold blocks" that you can freeze and then use in an ice chest, put them in your freezer now. If the power goes out you can wrap the insulin pens in thick layers of newspaper and put them into the ice chest with a cold block. Leave the other cold blocks in your freezer. They will stay colder there in the event of a power outage of several days. If you have a refrigerator thermometer or one of those small camping thermometers on a key chain, stick that in the cold chest.
Fill your bathtub with water so that you will have a supply to draw upon if something happens to the pipes or the water supply. If you are expecting heavy winds, put duct tape on the insides of your windows in an X pattern so that if a window breaks, the pieces of glass will not go all over the place. Get out your flashlights!!
Thinking of you!

I'm not
quite old enough to remember the great New England hurricane of 1939, but I remember my parents talking about it and saying that there was no warning whatsoever. It took everyone by surprise. At least we have better weather forecasts now!
