Every day I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing. I could spit. Super frustrated. And the syringe.. damn it ! they are so small. When I look at it is can see it’s between .5 and 1. But I have not real clue if I’m shooting .75 or .9. :mad: Seem impossible.
PS Oreo doest have a Libra on at the moment. Going to the vet next week so they can secure it better as the one I put on fell loose in 2 days giving me an absolute horrible experience of “LO” that probably wasn’t that.

The in between doses are hard to get the hang of. I have to use reading glasses to see what I'm doing. What I do is draw up 1u, then I open the fridge door and use that light as my backdrop, and I gently twist out a couple of drops. That usually gets me consistently in between the main unit and the half unit lines. I found using a back light helps to see the lines better.

Thank you. I mean I’ve got my diabetes under control and just had my annual vision. but the tiny line and the lighting is hard. I’ll quote my dr. “Do you wear cheaters yet? It’s coming” Im going to get this today to use at my kitchen table. I need a third hand. https://www.harborfreight.com/helping-hands-60501.html
We have 5 cats including Oreo. Im super emotional over him. He’s never been a needy cat. Not a lap cat. You get a few happy ear scrubs and chin scrubs he walks away. Still does. But my mind says I’m torturing, I know Im not. He purring yet not pleased about the prick and thank fully does not flip out. Ten years ago I’d be shredded doing this. I know it’s new and I’ll feel better about it and hopefully soon.. I keep having low sugar dreams about him and that this is hospice. The hospice thoughts is torturing me. I need to take care of myself too. I really appreciate all the help. The positive approach helps.

Get one of those battery operated headlamps on a stretch band to go around your forehead. They put out an enormous amount of light. I am older and wear bifocals. But to prick his ear, fill the syringe and give his injection, I can see better by removing my glasses completely and wearing the headlamp. I highly recommend purchasing one of these headlamps. You can get them for about $5 - $10.

They have them at harbor freight I’ll grab one of those too! GREAT IDEA

If you have a smart phone, they have lightboard apps that you can use as a backlight. That helps loads with the calipers so you can keep the calipers flat on the phone with the syringe to measure. I actually bought a lightboard that is nice and big with plenty of room for the calipers and syringe and is very bright.

You're doing great with Oreo. It takes time for you to get the hang of things around here. Think marathon, not sprint, and give yourself a hug. It will be ok. :bighug:

Steven did you read how to post on the Lantus and Levemir forum, Chris has posted it for you
We do posts a little differently there due to the large number of cats on Lantus and Levemir so here is the "Making the most of your Lantus/Basaglar and Levemir forum experience" to help guide you.

For today you would post like this a new post every day
8-14 OREO AMPS-117 then add any other test you do to it such as the BG # @+ how many hours after that, then do the PMPS test etc
You have to link the previous post to it so if needed we can just tap on it as see it

Hi ladies

@Chris & China (GA)

@Bron and Sheba (GA)

@Bandit's Mom

@Sienne and Gabby (GA)

Hi ladies I totally forgot how many tests you need to do to follow TR and how many for SLGS that's because I am a testaholic :cat:

Trying to explain it to Steven so he can decide what protocol he wants to follow
Thank you

I think I found it , I did a search
Well, with SLGS you get only preshots and do a weekly curve. With TR, it's 4 tests per day. Minimum. More if the numbers are dropping low.

Here Steve about following what protocol method you want to follow with Lantus
