What do you recommend for tonight's dose? Obviously she's earned another reduction but I'm wondering if I should skip or BCS given how low she dropped?

Ugh I feel awful. Fell asleep and when I woke she was at TWENTY FIVE (22 the first time). I double tested to be sure because it was a double-dip, then scrambled into the FF HC. They were fine when I went out, I left plenty of food & the autofeeder. There was still food out when I crashed. Now I know she can't be trusted to eat!

Numbers recovered super quickly on the HC so at +8 I reverted to LC. I also cross checked with the novamax again at the next test, which read 99 for the freestyle 70, and 136 for the freestyle 95. And yes yes I know not to compare meters. I was curious though, because even at 25 she was behaving completely normally - seems the novamax is more accurate at the lower numbers. I'm still on a mission to use novamax full-time. I am fed up of searching ebay for deals on strips.

What was Minnie’s number when you got back? Was it fun?
It was fun though I was stressed about getting back to Minnie! Beautiful sunset and we're lucky the smoke from the wildfires hasn't hit us yet this year. Yesterday's numbers are at the top.

WSU blood tests tomorrow! I'm curious what the fructosamine will be given the last few days shenanigans.

Oof I bet that woke you up fast! Minnie! Those are the numbers you blink at for a second before having a mini panic attack.

I'm curious what others say, I think there may still be some 3.75 depot hanging around. 22 is awfully low, so I'm really not sure whether depot drain or reduce, or both. My trip down the ladder was unconventional so definitely wait for others to chime in. Just thinking out loud.

@Wendy&Neko is the expert but this possibly looks a little IAA/acro-ish to me as of late...just the way she's come down in dose and still bottoming out. I know you have the acro test tomorrow, hopefully results next week!

Hello ladies, I know it's a busy week and lots of questions up at the moment. Hoping one of you can give some guidance on what to do with madam's dose tonight in 90minutes. She hit 22 this afternoon at +7.5, rose again pretty quickly and easily but stayed flat the last hour. I just checked her ketones, only at 0.2 which is her lowest ever, so I would be comfortable skipping a dose despite her ketone history.

What do you suggest for tonight's dose? I'm debating between just the reduction from 3.5 to 3.25 or a depot drain (lower shot or skip?). This is beyond my s/s analysis abilities.

thanks

I’m glad you caught the 22! That is low!
I wouldnt skip with ketones in her history. Are you able to monitor all cycle is needed and have plenty of test strips, food etc?
She has dropped into the 30s 4 days ago and now into the 20s. I wondering if maybe the depot is too full.
Maybe a reduced dose for this one and then back to 3.25 units.
See what the others think.

I’m glad Bron was here. I’ve got a sick kitty baby and have been off the board. I’m happy to see Minnie headed up so you can shoot the new dose. Because she’s getting long duration some cycles, I believe you will need to start testing early….it’s important to slow down the drops so she doesn’t get into these lower numbers and earn reductions so quickly. Normally, we don’t take reductions as often as you have but for 30s and 20s we do.

I’m wondering if she was IAA and it’s breaking or….if she is possibly acro and the tumor is waning. Even though she got up to 6u, her SS doesn’t look as much like am acro SS as we often see but I never say never!

Good luck with the reduction.

Thanks so much for checking in even when you have your own baby to look after! Hope you are both back home from the vet and have meds and a treatment plan. :bighug:

Just want to double check about shooting the new dose - though she did go up, she has been pretty flat the last 3 hours even with eating. And for testing early - I know it doesn't look like it with our recent late shot times, but typically I have been testing at +3 and give her food at +1/+2. How early do you suggest I test?

thank you thank you to both you and Bron! There's a lot going on lately, I know you all have your hands full.

Thank you. They aren’t certain what is causing her to have a bit of gastritis and my vets are super careful about antibiotics so we have her on slippery elm syrup and ondansetron and she seems more comfy. Waiting on lab results tomorrow. She’s never sick so it has me :nailbiting::nailbiting:

if she stays flat or goes up, I’d say +2. If she drops back down, she might be thinking of nadiring after her PMPS so I’d check earlier.

Ondansetron is like magic. Glad she seems more comfy and hopefully will eat, and good luck with the lab results - if nothing else, that it gives you info to work with.

Thanks for the advice. I'm on it :) and gradually squeezing her shot time to something more manageable!

Ohh Minnie, 22? Mommy must have have been very close to a micro heart attack :nailbiting:

hope tonight she is just dark green without too much effort and you will get some sleep :bighug:

She is being ultra-picky about food again. Tried a few varieties before she accepted the A/D again but only small amounts at shot time and again at +2. @Bandit's Mom when do you think I need to next test? I'll put out the auto-feeder but no longer convinced she'll eat. Thank you!

Since I'm up and so you have a reply - I'd snag some sleep and get a +4. 180 is basically flat, so more than likely that combined with pickiness, she's gonna start heading down. Back to bed for me though, good luck!

Thanks. I am sure you never sleep!! Hope all a bit calmer with the family.
