Yesterday Butters was finally admitted to the ER at around 1145pm. Her stomach was still pretty full then and also her bladder was enormous. They wound up draining 350mL urine via a catheter. She felt much better after that, apparently, and her pain is being managed with just methadone. Butters has a whole history of holding in her urine until her bladder gets huge, but why she does this is unknown. She does this at home, too. The vet she saw at the regular clinic wonders if there could be a neurological component to this.
The ER vet called this morning to say Butters's stomach looks empty this morning and the IM vet is available to come in this afternoon to do the ultrasound. He will read the images and write a report but he will not call me with the results. It will be an ER vet who calls. So that won't be until much later. They ran bloodwork and urinalysis on her yesterday, but still waiting on those results.
Fingers crossed that all goes well and hopefully I can bring her home tonight!
I hope all kitties surf safely today
Hugs to everyone
