long time diabetic cat???

My cat had very severe hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) 3 days ago with seizures, brought back with honey. Is there any lasting effects from this because he eyes are still very dilated.

Also is it possible that an area in the back of the neck can get immune to the insulin? If i shoot her in the hip...the insulin is stronger...in the shoulders with same dose nothing happens.
She has had diabetes 8 years already with lantus shots. Also gets 3x a week subcutaneous water in her back...so maybe the area has water pockets? Thats why the insulin doesnt work as well?

It's possible. If her glucose dropped so low it caused a seizure, it could have caused some brain damage too. Not necessarily, but possible.

Not immune exactly but there is some research that says the absorption from the scruff area isn't as good as from other places.

If you're giving sub-q fluids into the scruff, it's better to give the insulin in another place

Are you home testing? If not, please consider doing it. If your cat became hypoglycemic that could be a result of your dose being too high. A cat's insulin dose can change and the only accurate way of knowing how well the dose is working and if it needs to be adjusted is through home testing. Testing at the vet's office is not truly accurate since the glucose levels could be raised by stress. We can help you learn how to test your cats glucose levels at home.
