My 10-year old had to wear a cone and was kept on restricted movement of 2 1/2 months, so she naturally got very lazy. Now that she is on the road to recovery, I am trying to get her moving more, which would not only help with her healing, but also with her glucose level. It is frustrating trying to get her to exercise though, especially with the heat of this summer. I bought her some new toys, which she has shown very little interest in. She has never been food motivated, so offering her treats to run up the stairs doesn't work either. The only thing she goes for is cat nip. Cat nip toys don't really get her exercising though, she just rolls around and rubs and licks them. Often times, when I go upstairs, I now grab her and carry her up, so at the very least she has to run down the stairs again. How do you get your kitties to exercise?
