7-4 TYLER PMBG -81 ALL BETTER!!

ODT means orally disintegrating tablets. For a cat, his dose would be 4 mg. every 8-12 hrs.
Yes got the cerenia, pills, they gave a cerenia injection and fluids
I also have the
ondansetron at home. Thank you
Just got home, so we'll see how he does, no temp, heart good,
So if I had to add the
ondansetron I can give that plus the cerenia ?
Hopefully I won't have to
I understand about cerenia because I had to give it to his brother Perry when he had kidney disease who passed last Oct
Ondansetron is new for me

Thank you everyone for checking in on Tyler, I truly appreciate it.
After losing my Perry last Oct Tyler's brother, I have become a neurotic lol
I just can't help it
I'll keep you all updated and let you know how today and tonight goes ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks Diane for the update. Did they say if anything was wrong or just an upset tummy??

No temp, said everything looked good , so could just be an upset tummy.
How in the world could they even tell . I'll see how he does today and tonight
This cat will drive me to drink lol because he never gets sick
I'll make sure I will keep you all updated
Going to make a second cup of coffee now, I need it ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
I know I must be making a big deal about this, considering other kitties have so much more going on and are in worse shape than Tyler
Will be back soon to check on all the other kitties

Ondanestron is for nausea. Cerenia is for vomiting. I believe they can both be taken together.
A nauseous cat won't want to eat. A vomiting cat won't want to eat. You might want to try raising the food bowl (an upside-down cookie tin with a rim on the bottom end works well as does an old thick telephone books or a pile of books you don't care about). If that doesn't help, try hand feeding with your hand high enough that Tyler does not have to bend his head down.

Sit back and enjoy your coffee.

Diane, it’s all a big deal when our kitty doesn’t feel well. Hope the meds helped and he will eat soon. As I told Katherine about Ruby and Olive “no returns accepted”:p:p Talk later. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I could be wrong, I get things switched around in my head all the time, but I have always understood it's the other way around. Either way, when used together at the proper dose for the weight of the cat, they make for the perfect anti-vomiting, anti-nausea cocktail.

This is actually correct. Based on how the drugs actually work, the Cerenia works well for vomiting but is not the best for most cats with nausea without vomiting. They work very well together if you need both :).

Thank you for catching that. I have not been all that well. I too get confused because the only drug I've ever been offered for the nausea and vomiting associated with human pancreatitis is ondanestron.) I've edited and corrected my initial post.

Well since getting home at 1:00 PM with Tyler he has been sleeping under the bed this whole time ,it's now 7:45 PM (est) got up to pee and that's it.

Isn't looking to eat at all, when he wants food he'll come and paw me and meow and go stand by his dish

Hasn't thrown up at all
One thing I forgot to tell her was that I have ondansetron at home, oh well which I only used once last night , only 2 mg, but since he's not looking to eat why give it

He still looks mushy. Doesn't want to be bothered if I pet him
What could be wrong with this cat
I know that no one could tell be, just saying it out loud because I'm worried about him and aggravated
I'll let you know if there is any change

Of course as we all know everything happens on the weekends and since most vets are closed on Mon for the 4th of July

There are many things that cause vomiting. I found it helpful to have a "vomit log" :p to track dates and type of vomit, and possible food notes. Vomit can be clear and foamy, just food, bile, with hairball or not, etc. Sometimes they'll do a scarf and barf from eating too fast.

I hope Tyler feels better soon. :bighug:

Hi Wendy I'm so scared for him
Was good all day friday ate dinner at 5:30 P
7:00 pm threw up was liquid with the color of his FF pate
9:30 gave 2 mg zofran the generic ondansetron 2 mg
Bugging me for food gave him 1 tsp FF. Kept it down
11:00 PM threw up
3:30 PM threw up again
Took him to my vet today gave fluids, cerenia injection
No temperature, heart was good, pressed under stomach no pain at all
Came home with cerenia tablets will give him 24 mg tomorrow AM
Came home slept all day no vomiting, but not himself very mushy looking
doesn't want to be bothered

Not asking to eat
Gave ondonestron at 9:30 PM 4 mg
Forgot to tell vet I had some

Now threw up bile at 10:00 Pm
Thinking about taking him to the ER but don't know what they can possibly do
He howls before he throws up and is howling now but no vomit
Still in remission even though his BG this morning was 129 I know it's because he doesn't fell good
I really doubt he fell out of remission I check him more than usual
@Wendy&Neko

I wouldn't say out of remission, just a bit higher from feeling off. Not sure if this is an ER situation. I'd wait until tomorrow and reassess. Any chance he's constipated?

No he pooped yesterday, Just threw up again 11:30 was all white foamy bile
He's just meowing every now and then

I called the ER and it's a 6 hour wait, forget about it, really what can they do that's would be different than my vet did

Do you think I should give him another ondonestron 8 hours since the last one I gave him
I didn't tell my vet I had given it to him when I saw her today
Sorry to be such a pain in the butt about this I'm just so worried and hate to see him like this
I guess I'll see how he does tomorrow , but he hasn't eaten anything since Fri 7-2 at 11:30 PM and that was just a tsp of FF pate
Doesn't drink water only what I put in his food every meal
He had already peed once
Sometime from the kitchen faucet but doesn't even want that
Just wants to be left alone and of course I don't want to syringe him any food
@Wendy&Neko

So sorry Diane. I knew there was a reason I hadn’t heard from you. I know how scary this can be. (Sorry but I took a RX sleeping pill tonight) I wish I had something helpful to tell you. I know there are people here to help you and give you some moral support. 6 he wait for emergency is crazy. Is it far away? What if you just went there and told them Tyler had been vomiting for 2 days. Not drinking. Diabetic? Sending healing prayers :bighug::bighug:

Not far, but I'm thinking what else can they do that my vet hadn't done
The ER is open tomorrow too
I just let him smell the FF can of seafood pate and he wanted some, put water in it like I always do
Gave him less than a tsp going to see if he keeps it down
Right before that he threw up a small amount of clear bile
Maybe he needed some food in his stomach

Gave him the ondonestron at 9:30 tonight, will give the cerenia tomorrow morning
If he's still not feeling well I'll get up early and go to the ER
I know I'll be up all night.
Thanks for checking in my friend . Just going to lay down for a bit ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug:
I'll keep you posted

Diane I'm sorry he's feeling poorly, sorry I missed this I've had my hands full with Mr Kitty. I'm also up over here syringing food. It does often help once they have a little in their stomach, they tend to want to try to eat on their own.

Hopefully he eats more for you when you wake up. Otherwise I'd try syringing, since Friday night is awhile without food.

I've been reading all your posts about Tyler. So sorry you all are going thru this. It's so hard when we don't know what to do. When is the last time they did bloodwork? Did they specifically check for pancreatitis? I have one with Stage 2 CKD & pancreatitis and he howls before throwing up too. Please keep us updated on everything. (Hugs)

There is a difference between bile and something that's clear. Bile is yellow/yellowish and smells foul.

If the vomiting continues today, Tyler needs x-rays and/or needs to be seen by a vet. One of my civvies was throwing up bile. I had guests a day prior and they threw out dental floss which my cat then swallowed. He had an intestinal blockage. Fortunately, duing the 2nd trip to the ER, the vet on call was a surgeon and noticed a bit of the floss stuck in my cat's teeth.

This is my extreme way of saying that this amount of vomiting isn't normal for a cat.

Diane, I am so sorry to read all of this. Are you going to take him to the ER?. How is he this morning. Let us know what happens. You are always so supportive of me and I want to be here for you too. Unfortunately, I don't know much of anything about the medicines you are giving. I do have the cerenia on hand if I every need it. Just know I am sending many prayers for you and your boy. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Sienne, sorry after reading what you said it wasn't bile, it was foamy clear liquid
I let him smell some FF seafood feast which I really never give him , he ate 1 tsp around 2:30 AM this morning, woke up to find vomit around 7:30 AM
He is drinking water from the faucet this morning, gave him his cerenia
Pooped this morning and peed. Don't know if I should give the ondonestron I have?
I know he didn't swallow anything he shouldn't have.
I am afraid to syringe feed him , most likely he'll vomit again
I will see how today goes , if still not feeling well I will have to go to the ER
Thanks you :bighug:@Sienne and Gabby (GA)

Hi Heather just had full blood work done this Feb,all was good
He's been in remission since this Jan
Don't think it's pancreatitis, when I took him to my vet yesterday he was not in any pain when she touched his stomach area . Thank you for thinking of Tyler :bighug:

Sorry Tyler is still vomiting. :( I don't have much to add, only to drop you a few really warm hugs. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

@PerfumedCatMom
Ruby's fine. She didn't want to eat this morning at shot time but is eating now. She's wearing her Libre like a champ.

I don't know which ER you're planning to take him to, but there are also these veterinary "urgent" care places where the wait might not be as long as the ER and they might be able to do an X-ray. We have one here in Hoboken though I don't see one near you. https://veterinaryemergencygroup.com/

So sorry that he is still feeling sick :(. Sometimes the ER is the best option…albeit not where we want to end up. They can do some additional diagnostics but the main difference/advantage in these situations with an ER/Specialty Center is that they are staffed with IMs vs general vets & they are also able to better gauge what level of severity the problem is (to try to avoid an actual crisis if it is something that could potentially cause one). Again, I am sorry and hope that all will be ok :bighug:

Hi Katherine, I'm so stupid all along I'm saying ER
It's actually
This is where I'm talking about , about 15-20 minutes from me
Last night I called them and it was a 6 hour wait
