Olive got through the morning with no throw up. Cerenia is working and she’s eating well. Everybody’s good chez Katherine! Will check on Dolly in a bit!
Yay for Ruby and Olive. Dolly is doing well but walking very stiff, favoring her right hip, almost a limp. Will give her pain meds when I test her at +2. Was trying to only give it once a day because I was seeing some personality changes at 2 times a day. She is eating, peeing and pooping a lot. Have to be on the alert for hyperthyroidism. She’s not there yet, I don’t think, weight is stable. Was high on her labs in March but normal in May. See you in awhile. Have a good day Katherine. So happy for the girls. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Nice update for Ruby and Olive. I hope Ruby slides back down today.
Thanks, Carla. She's coming down again. Interesting though that it seems like Ruby is bouncing from her greens in the evening and then starts high in the morning. She ate quite a bit last night too, so it's not for lack of food in her system. The Libre will tell me more, if it lasts through the night.

Hi Katherine, I'm glad both kitties are eating well on the cerenia.
Come on Ruby slide on down. Cute cartoon
When I would be on the toilet Perry would jump into my bottoms and just lay down :p
I hope you all have a good day ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug:

I hope the Libre helps you characterize the pred effect so you can optimize testing.

Do you have anything wrapped around it? The article in this post has some pics of cats with the Libre on. They suggest a "scarf" wrapped around, a quick one being a sock with the toe and top pinned together. (2020) Updates in Feline Diabetes Mellitus and Hypersomatrotropism
I have a Kitty Kollar on her. She's getting the hang of it, proof being in this very relaxed pose she's doing here:

We have had an uncharacteristically high and flat day today and it's worrying me. I'm not sure what's going on exactly, perhaps it's the increased pred showing its colors, but I think I should increase tomorrow morning if she's riding in the high yellows. What do you think @Wendy&Neko?

I think she's bouncing from last night's 70, or the steep drop to 70. Regardless, I think you have room to increase. As long a you will be around to monitor (ie. get those Libre readings).

They’ve made improvements to improve the accuracy. It’s still a 14 day device (if it lasts that long on Ruby). The Reader also has alarms for when the readings go too low so that’s helpful for when Frank is home and forgets to test. :)
I'd be interested to know if they last longer too - I usually get about 5 days out of them (assuming she doesn't knock it off).

The longest a Libre lasted on Ruby was 8 days, and this was a few weeks after she had DKA and was a bit weaker than she is now. I’d be happy if I can get that this time.

It's so frustrating, isn't it? The first one I had lasted 11 days. She probably had about 5 of them before she started trying to knock them off, but more often they just clap out on their own. In the early days I actually phoned Abbott and - maybe he didn't hear me say cat - they sent me 2 replacements and a pre-paid box for me to send back the dud sensors.

Good luck, hope this lasts a good while. I find scanning the sensor so much more addictive than pokey - no guilt about giving her ugly ears!!
