Long post, question about Keytones at the end…..
just checking in with a question regarding Keytones. I have read the info in the health forum that talks about their seriousness. Mia has been OTJ since the end of May, but we have been on a roller coaster since her dental surgery on June 3. She was not eating and vomiting and we first suspected a sensitivity to the pain meds. She seemed better with Cerenia, but after a few days was again not eating and vomiting. Bloodwork indicated hepatitis (elevated white blood cells and liver values). She was taking clavaseptin, gabapentin for stress at vet and is now taking ursodiol for help with bile production……
She is still lethargic and appetite is so-so (eating 1/2 what she used to?). Also refusing some foods. Tonight she will start zeniquin and we have bloodwork booked for July 8 when she finishes antibiotics?
tonight I tested her blood for Keytones using the freestyle precision nano metre and had a reading of 0.4 mmol.
I have emailed the vet to see next steps, but was hoping for feedback from the group.
