What kind of insulin are you using? For Lantus, it’s best to post in the Lantus forum because most of those users hang out there. For the other insulins, you can post in the specific forum as well but they don’t get as much traffic, so you can also post it here in the main health forum :cat:

Need help in reading the numbers. I can't download my spreadsheet cause it won't let me.
If you go to your spreadsheet and click on the green "Share" button at the top right corner, it will pop up a small box.
- In the lower half of the box, titled "Get Link", change it to "Anyone with the link"
- Click on "Copy Link"
- Paste the link here

(These are directions for a desktop/laptop and not for a smartphone)

Thanks for making the spreadsheet! :cat: Looks like you are doing a very good job of testing so far! Is it possible for you to get at least one test during her PM cycle?

Based on your data, I would say you could increase her dose to 1.25u. Do you have syringes with 1/2 unit markings? That will make it much easier. I do not think you are doing anything wrong based on your data. It just looks to me like she needs more insulin. If a dose is not working, you don't want to hold it too long or your cat can develop glucose toxicity. Here is the link to the sticky all about Vetsulin if you have not read it yet!

Thank you for your help.

Glucose toxicity isn’t as bad as it sounds. It’s basically when your cat gets used to being in high numbers and their blood glucose gets “stuck”, kind of temporary insulin resistance. To get over this you sometimes have to raise the dose quite a bit before the cat will “break through” the toxicity, and then usually you will need to start lowering the dose as the BG starts to come back down

Little Girl is on 1 unit twice a day of Vestulin and the vet says her numbers are all over the place and that I must be doing it wrong. What are the numbers saying.

Her numbers are pretty high. I have no experience with Vetsulin so tagging some senior members. I wonder if you can take the dose up to 1.5U

A small housekeeping note. It would be a big help to us if you can set-up your signature. It's basically a summary of the information we need about your cat to give you advice. The spreadsheet and signature are the things we look at when asked for advice. It saves us asking you the same questions again and again and also saves you the effort of giving us the information every time you post!

Here's how you can set-up your Signature:

  • In the Menu, under your user name, click on Signature.
  • Add info we need to help you:
    • Caregiver & kitty's name
    • DX: Date
    • Name of Insulin (do not include dose or frequency)
    • Name of your meter
    • Diet: "LC wet" or "dry food" or "combo"
    • Dosing: TR or SLGS or Custom (if applicable)
    • DKA or other recent health issue (if applicable)
    • Acro, IAA, or Cushings (if applicable)
    • Spreadsheet link. Please put the signature link on the bottom line of your signature information, on its own, so it is easy to find.
  • Please do not put any information about your location in the signature for security reasons. If you wish to add your country location, please add it to your profile.
  • There is a limit of two lines. You may separate info with commas, dashes, | etc.
  • Be sure to click the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom.
If you'd like I can help you with setting up your signature.

I would not increase the dose until you have got at least a couple of tests in during the PM cycle. At the moment we don’t know if you kitty is dropping low overnight and bouncing or not. A few tests in the pm cycle should give us that information. Do you think you could get at least a before bed test in each night? And if possible a later one for a couple of nights for us to see what’s happening?
