When I had a diabetic kitty on Lantus in 2018, the vet office instruction was to gently roll the vial.
In trying to read most of the articles on FDMB, I read that we are NOT to roll the Lantus vial. I am wondering why not.
I phoned the Lantus company this morning and waited 10 min as they searched for an answer. I gave up and thought I would post here. Thanks.

Since I'm still around and posted on the thread that Katherine linked, I still wouldn't shake or roll Lantus for exactly the reasons I stated in 2012. If you look at an insulin like Novolin, when it sits for a while, it separates into clear and mildly colored components. They need to be mixed. Lantus is in solution already. No mixing is required. Lantus is less fragile than we thought in 2012 but it still shouldn't be agitated since it can damage the insulin.

Unfortunately, your vet gave you misinformation in 2018.

Unfortunately, your vet gave you misinformation in 2018.

When Ruby was diagnosed in September 2020, her vet also told me to roll in gently in my hand before drawing the dose. It seems that the misinformation persists even now.

Wow, very interesting read. Even Bill in the medical department at Sanofi this morning could not answer this simple question and went in search of a nurse or pharmacist.
