5/19, Susie, 70/83/57 at AMPS, 63 @+.5, 51 @+1, 57 @+1.5, 53 @+2

Have you fed? If not, stall and test in 30 mins. When did she last eat?

Can you monitor if you shoot?

And your reduction point is 70?

Last time she ate was at +2 last night. The 70 and 83 were back to back test. I wanted to make sure the first test was correct. I have not fed. I can wait and test again. I can monitor. My reduction point is 70. I have prepared a shot of 2.50 units which is a reduction of .25. I have 1/2 a can of l/c ready. Sound okay?

She has not earned another reduction. She needs to drop below 70 for you to reduce. These numbers could be the effect of the higher depot which can last 4-6 cycles after a reduction.

You didn't get any tests last night? Or they're not in the SS?

If she has not eaten anything since +2 last night, she may keep dropping without food.

I would feed and shoot since you can monitor. Get a +1.

No, no test last night. I mistakenly thought she would remain high. Okay I'll reload another shot at 2.75. What about the food? Is a half can of l/c okay?

Okay, I have my hypo kit ready and will test again in about 5 minutes.

Sorry about my delays in responding. I don't have a smartphone and am running back and forth from my desktop to Susie's testing area.

She is up to 63. I almost did skip the shot but didn't want another day like yesterday where the skipped shot and reduction really raised her glucose. I will remember not to shoot when my pre-shot test is lower than my reduction #.

I guess going forward I should test again in 30 minutes and give a tsp of m/c? Please advise and, no, Susie would not want to be moved from her testing site.

Could this be any kind of indication that her liver might be providing even a small amount of insulin on it's own or is it all about the insulin I have been giving her.

To the extent possible, you want to avoid skips and reductions that can be avoided by feeding the curve, if you know what I mean. Try and keep her on a dose that's seeing her in good numbers.

I think the pancreas of diabetic cats do wake up every now and then to produce insulin, which is why they go up and down in dosing. Because the need for exogenous insulin increases or decreases depending on how much insulin the pancreas produces.

1 tsp. h/c down the gullet. Eagerly eaten and thoroughly enjoyed! She liked it so much she was crying for more. I guess poor Susie misses the taste of the good stuff.:arghh:
Hahahaha. Give me pizza over salad any day !

Yes, I saw it and will test again at +1 and post here.
Great! And could you please update the latest numbers in the thread title as well? Thanks!

Whoa, Susie... slow down. You are having a busy morning, Summer! Glad you have Bhooma there to coach you. She's awesome! I've been following Susie... I'm rooting for you.

Summer you are doing a great job at keeping Susie float in the greens, hope she lets you rest soon :bighug: you are in good hand with Bhooma :)

Bhooma (@Bandit's Mom ) the savior of all kitties on the forum :cool:
I know I am in GREAT hands with Bhooma. She was there right away for me in the beginning this morning. She is patient, forgiving, does not criticize and has a sense of humor :cat:

Bhooma, she is back down to 53 at +2. Should I give another Tbls. of h/c and add a little more honey? This is the same thing I went through on the 15th when I could not get her BG up with food. It worries me.

I see from your SS that you gave honey at +1.5 and not +1?

Please give her some more HC and just a teeny bit of honey.

As long as you are monitoring closely and have enough supplies you should be able to keep her safe.

I am missing all the edits to posts that you have done today. Just add new posts? Thanks :-)
