Yesterday on Ruby at Rest. :cat:

It was another gray spring day. Ruby didn’t emerge much from underneath the sofa slip covers (her preferred nap spot). I did weigh her and she’s lost some ounces so I am adding a little more food to the daily menu. The raw diet is still a work in progress. Will be making a batch with Alnutrin this weekend instead of the usual EZ Complete so that the kitties can have some fresh liver. Yums. :p Alnutrin is also so much cheaper than EZ, but it was convenient when just starting on raw.

Healing thoughts for all the sick kitties. It’s Friday! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

EZ Complete does seem to be quite expensive. I've been trying out TC Feline with Butters. They have a special formula for kidney cats. Not sure how the price compares to Alnutrin, though.
Are we calling those 101 preshots green? I think I would:D. She is doing well on this dose <anti-jinx>.

I just did a quick calculation and it seems like EZC and TCF low phos are about the same in price. Alnutrin doesn't have liver or a source of Omega 3s that I suppose add to the cost and bulk of the product. Both are relatively cheap and easy to add to the food so I don't mind having to go through the extra steps now that I'm more accustomed to making food for them. How does Butters like the taste of TCF? I'm nervous feeding Alnutrin to my critters because they lick up every morsel of EZC and I'm afraid they will not appreciate the change to Alnutrin.

And I don't know if we are calling them green! I was thinking about starting the green count after that 119, but that was a poop day so maybe it doesn't count as a high number? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don't know if Ruby's ready to go down to a drop yet. I'm sure someone will tell me to reduce when the time comes. :nailbiting:

I personally would start the green cycles count on the cycle after that 119, so PM 4/26:D. But I wonder what others think.

Butters was displeased with the TC Feline but loved EZC from the get-go. I had to keep trying TC Feline with her over three months or so before I figured out how to get her to enjoy it. I found that she gobbles it up happily as long as I mix in some in Omega 3/fish oil and quail egg (raw yolk & cooked whites). The egg whites are lower in phosphorus and a good source of protein. I daresay she likes it better than EZC now!

That seems most prudent to me. :D

From what I've read on other raw feeding groups Alnutrin is pretty popular among discerning kitties but I'm going to make just a pound of turkey thighs with it to see if it passes muster around here. I will also be adding a few drops of fish oil as I serve each Alnutrin portion so that should make it smelly and enticing. Quail eggs seem perfectly proportioned for kitties! I've always shied away from cooking eggs for the cats because a whole chicken egg seems like too much yolk and their tummies already seem very sensitive to small amounts of the powdered yolk. Maybe I'll look to see if there are inexpensive quail eggs at the Asian market tomorrow. :)
