Really noy sure what to do with Hercules!

We have been at 0.5 for 12 days now. Most of the time he is bouncing, with a two bright greens. After the first I decided to wait and make sure the dose was indeed too high, because we have just spent a month on pink and yellows consistently. There was not even a sign of blue at 0.25U....

The problem is when he dives, he dives. But he spends most of his times bouncing. I feel like I am testing enough to catch him before he goes lime green but he always catches me out....

What would you do?

It's possible that he may do alright on 0.25U now even though he didn't 12 days back.

This is the 2nd drop between 40 and 50. If you feel he doesn't hold reductions, you can wait for a third drop between 40 and 50 to take the reduction.

Thanks Bhooma! I have kept him full time on 6% (except for last night) to see if I could dampend his wil swings..... It seemed to have worked on the 2nd and third of march, but then we were off.... :(
Should I try 10% all the time? Or is the result of the experiment that carb content will not affect his swings?
Maybe I can try 0.37U or is it foolish?

I think you can stick to the 6% for now. He does seem to be clearing bounce faster.

What they say here is to either do 3 drops between 40 and 50 or a skinny reduction. So if you wait for another drop between 40 an 50, you take the full 0.25U. I was thinking that if he didn't hold the reduction, you could go up to 0.375U instead of 0.5U.

Tagging @tiffmaxee for her opinion.

There was a bg drop between +2 and +4 which is enough to cause a bounce. Think it would have been a good idea to feed a little at +3 even if you didn’t test. Bhooma gave the options. I’d be inclined to wait for a third drop and try to avoid big drops.

I agree with you Elise, and I could see was going to be busy. I even snucK in 5g of 30% AT +4, but I am not sure how I could have predicted the +2 to +4 drop? On 03/04 I though it was going to be very active and I checked at +3, but no drop....

You can’t predict I know. You need to test I think each hour at the beginning of the cycle s test at +.

Hercules is up and down but I like the numbers today - except the "scary greens" but that is just me, Karen. Good luck with whatever you and the folks on this site think you should do.

Indeed! But it would have been safer to drop his dose....
But we keep on this merry=go-around, up and down with his dose, so I'm perhaps being a bit bullish...
You are doing an incredible job at monitoring Hercules, he is a bit less predictable so it is very difficult to catch all the drops. Hercules never goes too low, considering his hyperactivity it wouldn’t be too difficult but you manage to control his BG and that is all your merit :bighug:

I think there are times when we need to follow "our guts" and do what we think is right. If you think Herc needed a reduction then you should take it. No one wants to live on the "Merry go round" of unpredictabilty. For me, I will always play it safe no matter what anyone says. Besides, you need your rest time too. We all cannot be constantly worrying about how low our cats are going to go when normal numbers are actually between 80 and 120.

This is just my novice opinion.

Ok, I am already regretting not reducing Hercs dose. I was sure he was going to bounce, but he is showing sign of an active cycle.
I just gave him 20g 6%, and 20g of 13%
What do you think @tiffmaxee ?
Should I start dishing HC?
