We've been doing 1 unit PZ am & pm for a week (today is day 7). Last night I got him to eat a lot, but then after his shot around midnight he threw up all his food. I was worried so I gave him a bit of a can of ProPlan sensitive stomach. He kept most of that down, I slept fitfully and kept checking on him and he threw up (mostly bile) around 5 am.

He was not having any of the ProPlan DM this morning. I finally got him to eat maybe 2/3 can of Tiki Cat chicken (6 oz version).

Do you shoot insulin after they've thrown up overnight? Normally we do shots at 7:30 but the vets office still hasn't called me back.

I was FINALLY able to get a BG reading (FIRST TIME!!) and it is 360. He's already had a bit to eat tho.

Side note - the throwing up might be my fault. He's lost some weight (about 1/2 lb from last week) and I was trying to get him to eat a lot and I gave him several different cans of things when he wouldn't eat a lot of one kind.:(

Don't pressure him into eating. Cats get aversions against food quickly so don't make him if he doesn't want to.
Are you past your shoot time?

Thanks for the reply @SashaV Yeah I was moving the food bowl in front of him after he turned away and then he'd start eating again. :( So probably my fault. I feel so bad!! I just wanted to make sure he was getting enough.

The vet said to go ahead and give him his shot (although it is a bit late). Last night's was at 8 am and this morning we did it at 9. 7:30 is supposed to be our normal time.

Luckily I have the day off of work so I can keep a close eye on him.

@JanetNJ could you advise on the time?

Prozinc has some wiggle room on time, so if you need to move it back to 7:30 you could move it up to an hour early as long as his numbers are high enough. It's ok if they don't eat a full meal at shot time, as long as they are willing to eat some. My cats were all grazers.... so my diabetic would eat a little, and then go back to it in an hour or two... and then again... then I fed more later. You can feed more than twice a day. I used to feed morning, noon, evening and before bed.

Ahh! Thank you so much. This board is a lifesaver. I definitely feel better having you all on Bingley's side!!

We are still struggling over here. Today he had blood in his poop. I immediately called the vet, who said if he throws up again or if he gets diarrhea let them know and I can bring him in early. Otherwise, we have a regular appointment on Saturday. He's lost a lot of weight, I can tell, and his appetite is low. I sprinkled some fortiflora on his food to get him to eat and have been trying to leave food out in case he grazes too. He only ate 40 g of Weruva Chicken Frick a Zee tonight. :'(

I also think I read somewhere about strips where you can get their BG from urine? Does anyone have a link to that? Have not been able to get any other readings from the ear prick and it is just stressing him out to the max trying and we already have so much going on.
