He is hiding from me; pretty sure he associates this with almost dying because he did :'(
I will work on getting him out to give it, but a quick question as I have only given the pen. Do I have to "suck back" in this needle to make sure I haven't hit a vein?
No you don’t draw back on the syringe as you inject. Just put in the needle and give the dose.

The 0.5 unit is between the zero on the syringe and the 1 unit mark....it’s just a tiny amount

That is quite a drop. Did he eat well before the shot.?
I would give him a snack of food now and test again in 1 hour.

Well he is not "eating well" exactly yet, but improved. He ate a piece of chicken in some broth when he got his insulin shot with some coaching. I gave him some food, tested again half hour later and will keep setting alarms to test in the night. I am nervous because this is what happened on his really low 1.9 and when the vet told me to stop insulin.

When I go to test before the am shot, I will post in the lantus forum :)

I will keep watching for updates on the SS. It looks like he has slowed down at +2.25.
The depot is going to have to fill again as you had 2 skips.
You will need to manually change the US SS when you add anything else into the box except a number. So when you add 15.5@2.25 it won’t transfer.
You multiply by 18 to get the US number.

When you post on the Lantus forum tomorrow can you link this thread to it for continuity so everyone can look back if needed to catch up on Sir Thomas’ history.

Thank you, I updated the US page :)
So he is now at 14.9, Do I need to check hourly throughout the night in this case?

No. I would leave some food out for him and set the alarm and get a +7 just to check he’s not going to drop lower. I doubt he will. If it still not dropping a lot at +7 I would not test again.
Continue with the same dose in the morning.
