3/21 Darcy AMPS 297, +3 296, +4.5 255, +8 299, PMPS 306

A mostly yellow day. I told Darcy he messed up our string of yellow at PMPS with a 306. Hopefully more yellow tonight. It seems like we will never get to blue. I will have to use more R and less of the expensive insulin anyway. I calculated that with his current dose, 5 pens of Lev (which I hope to receive this coming week) will only last 18 days, then I'd have to buy again. I can't do that at all. It would be getting close to $400 a month for insulin and that's more than any car payment I ever had (or ever intend to have for that matter).

Anyway... here's hoping for more yellow tonight. How much R can I give to supplement the Lev. I'm just kind of experimenting with it right now and have him up to 13 units of R, which has been okay. He will need more if I am to get him down into lower yellow and blue on a regular basis. I will keep experimenting with increased doses (although, waiting for the Lev, as I said, so things may change with that?)

I hope all the kitties out there are purrfect!

Lovely to see that string of yellow. Over 24 hours?:)

The spreadsheet says 42 U L this morning?

Enough that it doesn't take him down more than 100 points by +4. Suki's Crystal was getting up to 25U of R, but her L dose was 60.

I just wanted to offer words of encouragement as I know the fear of how expensive this is. Howie’s magic dose of breaking into greens is somewhere 53-55 units and then he earns reductions as he gets below 70 at those points. That is a pen every 3 days even with R. He is currently down to 39 units again and likes this spot as he is still sitting in greens and low blues. We’ll see if he keeps sliding down the scale as he is at about week 6 on cabergoline. I know Larry started seeing the effects of cabergoline around 2.5 months. I got Howie down to 30 units last month before the antibodies took a hold again.

I hope/pray you find the breaking point of the antibodies soon. Big hugs!

No. That 42 was a mistake.. I think I fixed it when I noticed it. I'll check. Same old 41 units. He's not due for an increase yet (almost). But, like I said, I really can't afford to increase anyway so I think I'm going to have to do some combo or R or N or something? I think Larry uses N? He doesn't have an SS so I can't check, but I believe he mentioned it.

Yes, Larry mentioned using N. Ages ago one other person used N, but there are no current spreadsheets as examples, so I'd be hesitant to try it.

Been doing lots of stupid stuff lately. I wrote that today was 3/20 and it's 3/21! And I keep trying to make the dose of Lantus 42 units instead of 41.

I guess now that I look at his sheet that I could increase tomorrow, but I already am worried about running out of Lantus before the Levemir arrives. I had to refill it and didn't get the coupon this time because it was "too soon" to refill it and get the coupon. So I paid $300 for it this time and the vial is waning fast. I was told I should have tracking info on my Lev by tomorrow. But how long will it take to get here. USPS is simply awful these days. And it will have to go through customs or something like that. So... to make a long story short... I can't run out of Lantus or I'll be managing him entirely on the R (that would be tough).

So I guess what I'm saying is that I may keep him at 41 units because I'm afraid of raising and running out of this last vial of Lantus. I guess that's the advantage of the pens... you can look and see what's left in them (at least I could with the pens of Lantus that my friend gave me).

Isn't N supposed to last longer? Anyway, I guess I can just try giving him more R three times a day (or even at night if I know how he reacts to it?) Today, I gave 13 units and he still didn't go down 100 points.

I got my shipping number 3/10 and it arrived 3/16 - 2 days earlier than promised. There were no updates between 3/10 & 3/14, in/out of customs in SF 3/15 then delivered to me 3/16. Maybe another day or so since you're on the East Coast?

I do feel your pain (though not quite as much), I ended up buying an extra pen at Walgreen's because I thought I'd run out before the predicted delivery date. Good luck. :bighug:

Mr Darcy and Miss Minnie are in cahoots with their numbers today.

Yes, N is supposed to last longer. I just can't help you if you decide to go there.

I expect he's bouncing from that long string of yellows. As for night time R, you probably could give him some once you know how he reacts to mid cycle R. Maybe start a little conservative.

Yes. That would make me so nervous that I'd probably get up to test him just to make sure, at least until I had an idea of how he responded in the evening to make sure it was similar to the daytime. In the past, Darcy (being weird) has run higher at night than in the day.

Thanks, Liz. I need to make this Lantus last about a week then if I get my tracking number today. That is helpful information.
