Good morning all! Forgot to post again yesterday...it has been a doozy of a week here and thank God it is Fri-YAAAY!!

I have a question. On the sister FB group, one of the admins made a comment saying that the ReliOn Premier meter technology had been changed in the recent past and now measures more like a pet meter, making the take-action number 70 and not 50 (so like a pet meter on the low end of the scale). I confirmed my understanding with the admin, and I did understand her correctly. Pearl is a newer diabetic and so my meter is newer. Which means I'm pretty nervous. Has anyone else here heard that? If so, do I make my take-action number now 70 (which means we've got a LOT of reductions), or do I just go get a Prime??

Surf safely everyone!

Which FB group did you hear that on? Some FB groups may claim to be sister groups but are more like Cinderella's step sisters. :p

Pearl's looking lovely today.
Oh LOL, it was the right group - Feline Diabetes. Linked to the FDMB. I only participate in that group, having other FD groups with theory different than FDMB is toooo confusing!

And thank you - I am really hoping she makes a reduction soon. I may have a job change coming that will require me to be out of the house a lot more from her AM +1 until PMPS and I am getting a little crazy trying to figure out how I will keep her safe (so therefore am hoping she hot foots it to remission, lol I know no pressure right?!)

I dug around, that information on the Premier did not come from the FB group associated with the FDMB, but as I suspected, from the step sister one. The step sister is also the one that keeps on telling people to "reset" their dose back at 1 if the cat bounces. :banghead:

How is Pearl at eating out of an autofeeder? Pearl seems to show her "reducie coming!" flag by +2 - I wonder if it would help to back up your shot schedule so you can get that +2 before you leave the house.

Ah hah, good to know and thanks so much for digging!

So...if I back up her schedule to get a +2 AM, then I will be an hour late PM. I literally may be gone for 11 hours. That is the problem I am facing, and I will be 40 miles away in the city, going back and forth on the train. We've never tried an auto feeder, she is usually so picky and wants me there with her.

OK, if she won't use an autofeeder, you can leave food out to graze on. But of course that doesn't help the fact that she wants to be waited on. :cat:

Hmm, maybe time to start getting some +11 and +1 tests in the morning to see if they can help you predict what she'll do during the day.

I had wondered about the Premier - it makes no logical sense for a vendor of a human meter to deliberately change it so that it reads high. You think they'd lose their market, if not getting sued.

Actually, Wendy, the post

Actually I just looked again, the post IS from the FD group. I will message you and link the conversation. But the person is actually a moderator of the other group, I got that part confused.

Good idea about those tests, I will start doing them! LOL I went out and bought a Prime this morning and so far...it reads THE SAME as the Premier at the green numbers.

Nice surfing today. I hope Chessie is doing better. I get a +10ish test with Furball every morning. It helps me know if she's going up or down at AMPS. That helps me know if I need to leave food out for her when I work. My work schedule sounds like what you'll be dealing with. I barely make it home in time for PMPS and can't come home for lunch.

I don't know how I will ever do it. I feed her so many times throughout a cycle, depending on her BG readings throughout. And she depends on me to be with her in order to eat. If I do get this job, it will be about 6 weeks minimum before a change is made, and I hopefully will not need to go into the office every day, but I don't know yet. And I will be 40 miles away by train, so I can't come home to check on her.

I feel for you Margaret...it's been so hard on you. Both our girls are very hands on... I spend so much time with Missy my work suffers..a lot! Lets hope our girls go into remission soon and your worries will be gone. I hope Pearl has a great cycle tonight and all is well with Chessie too. Enjoy the weekend!

I've been told the same about the Premier, which I use.
