good morning i hope everyone and their babies had a great night! pookie is a tiny bit high this morning at AMPS but dalton accidentally gave his dose at 8 instead of 8:30 so will have to give him his dose earlier tonight, he's on day 4 of a cycle of 1.50 U I was wondering if anyone had advice, by day 7 should we go down .25 to 1.25u or keep him where he's at based on his numbers !! for the past few days he's been staying mostly yellow!

Hi there! I have two kids, and they always say "kids will teach you patience"". They didn't. But Hercules diabetes has.....
It is really difficult to predict where pookie will be in 3 days, so not even a point on wondering :)
However... if the pattern remains of mostly yellows and pinks, my guess is that you will need to increase by 0.25. But ask for help again on day 6!

thank you !! that's right its still a far before we consider what to do for his dosing! haha very true !! you do have to have a lot of patience with cat diabetes but every day were getting a bit better I was not sure if we should increase or decrees but I also think if he stays in these numbers we will try a small.25 increase but hopefully he gets better and a little lower before then but I have a feeling hell be staying around where he is.

If you prefer to shoot at 8:30 tonight, you can. Shooting 30 minutes "late" from the AM shot is okay - and then aim for 12 hour cycles from there.

On SLGS, you evaluate the dose after 7 days or 14 cycles unless a reduction is earned before then - sounds like you all know that. If Pookie doesn't have any dry at all (and you've figured out how to stop his thieving ;)) then you could consider TR where increases every 6 cycles (though some doses held longer when blues and greens are new). Maybe read through the dosing methods again to see what fits for you all? You all test enough for TR, so it would just be a matter of the food. https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...-low-go-slow-slgs-tight-regulation-tr.210110/

Surf safely, Pookie :cat:

Yes we haven't fed him any dry what I found is good is to make a small bowl of wet food and just wrap it and keep it in the fridge ans around 3-4am I just give him a little feeding !! Thank you I will re read through this and see what is best !

Some people choose to add a column before the AM and PM dose columns that mark the time the dose was given. Might help with both of you doing it!

Edit: here is Liz and Minnie's condo today, if you look at her spreadsheet you can see how she marks the time

just fed pookie a small meal !! tried to test around +4 and again now at +6 no success !! i guess today is an off day for me trying to test, going to give the man a break and test again at PMPS he seems to be fine and is enjoying the cat tower as usual.

finally was able to get his blood test and went so easy this time !! good numbers for him today !! I'm happy for the boy !! lrts hope testing +2 goes just as well tonight :)

Takes a while for the ears to really learn how to bleed. More capillaries will form over time. It also helps a lot if the ear is warmed up first. Many people put some rice into a small sock, warm that. In the microwave, then hold it against kitty’s ear before each test.
You’re doing great for less than a week but so far it is looking like Pookie is going to need more insulin. You still have a few days to go with SLGS and a curve to do before you could increase. Unless you switch to TR. :)
