So, I cancelled the new internist visit today. It's a long drive (1 hour each way) and I didn't want one of his last few days spent in a car, then being poked and prodded.

Instead, Fortune is in the window bed sunning and snoozing. It's 60 and sunny today, and I will bring him outside to lay in the sun for a while, too. He is a bit stronger on the new dose of his neuro meds, and I hope it will help him get around more easily. Fortune ate heartily at breakfast (which makes my heart so happy, always), and he had two good poops last night and this morning! :joyful:

He is breathing pretty deeply, which makes me a bit nervous about giving him fluids...

Also, look at his beautiful numbers!! :D DH kept waking up to make sure he didn't suddenly drop since the PMPS was higher than the +2, but he was flat all night (we think). I think he broke his bounce very quickly from Wednesday's incident. I hope this is making him more comfortable.

Happy Friday! :bighug::bighug:

I'm glad you're thinking about his QoL. Those car rides are rough on kitties and he's seen plenty of vets and hospitals recently. A little R&R and love at home will do him and you so much good. Hope his numbers stay flat for you today. Hugs!

We are lucky that he doesn't mind the car rides much, but he has seen so many hospitals and vets. His onc and neuro are still telling me that he will bounce back, which makes it all much harder.

Today is enjoying his sunshine, we are snuggling, and I'm feeding him his favorite foods. He was outside earlier sniffing the air and eating some grass.

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: I’m praying Fortune will bounce back! But I am super happy to hear that he is having a good day and enjoying his food! That means happiness and enjoyment of life.

Just put some karo on his gums. Gave him some MC and HC at +4, but doesn’t seem to have been enough. Now he isn’t eating.

We were going to give him SubQ but now I’m worried about pushing his number lower

Are his gums tacky? If so I would give a little fluids, maybe 50ml. He's not interested in eating anything?

He ate earlier at +4, but only a few licks and bites since then.

Will the fluids push him down? His gums are tacky...

What happened after fluids in the past? ECID. With Max that only happened once, the first time I gave fluids. You could wait until he comes up to give fluids if concerned.

Yeah I think I’ll wait - he hasn’t been in greens like this before. We had to get more supplies and skipped yesterday, but I’ll give them to him when he comes back up.

I'm happy that Fortune is enjoying the sun and enjoying his favorite and snuggling.
He must have enjoyed going outside for awhile.
I just love him Rachel . Kisses for him ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Fortune is so lucky to have you all as his beans <3 Much love to all of you and keep surfing, Fortune :D

Thank you, Susanne! I feel really lucky he found me all those years ago, and that I picked a partner Fortune loves (cuz otherwise DH wouldn’t have been allowed to stay ;)). Fortune brings such joy and magic to our lives, not to mention cuteness and lotsa sass!

Thank you, Diane. He has been enjoying these sunny Spring days :bighug:

Gotta brag on his beautiful smile curve today!!! He even ate so I wouldn’t worry. Such a good boy :smuggrin: I just wish we could have helped him feel better with good BGs sooner.

Haha smart of him to get over it, lol. My dad and his side of the family are allergic to cats. I had an allergist over the summer tell me I was allergic to cats and to consider rehoming them. I laughed - hard! I didn’t mean to be rude, but I explained that just wasn’t going to happen. Priorities! ;)

DH is the only person (besides me) who Fortune is vulnerable and trusting. They are in love with each other and it makes me really happy (and only a little jealous).

They seriously spoon while watching tv. It’s gross and so cute!

He did have beautiful numbers today, Oh Rachel what a great pic, just look at that boy just staying there and loving those cuddles. He is one amazing kitty :bighug::bighug:

Fortune was hungry at +10.5 so we fed him at +10.5. Which means the PMPS may be influenced by food.

He isn't hungry right now, and not feeling great. @Wendy&Neko @tiffmaxee Will he be safe if we give a half dose for tonight? I don't want to force him to eat tonight, and I'm not sure he will be able to later (thought we will keep trying). My main concern right now is for ketones.

Not enough insulin, not enough food, and water can cause ketones. I don’t know what to tell you. Even if food influenced it’s probably high enough it not knowing if he will eat always worries me.
@Marje and Gracie

I don't follow - water, not enough food, and not enough insulin can cause ketones? Is his PMPS high enough to shoot the full dose even if he doesn't eat more?

I need to stop doubting that Fortune will eat. He is such a good eater and a the goodest boy!
