Today, a couple of things I need to mention:

I tried feeding butters only up until +6 for the first time. She was displeased but went with the program begrudgingly. Am I supposed to see a change in her numbers as a result of not giving her food every 3 - 4 hours like I normally do? Am I possibly risking a pancreatitis or acid tummy episode by letting her go for six whole hours between meals?

Second, I tried to give her emu. She will eat it as long as it is mixed into bison:rolleyes:. I maaaaybe didn't know what an emu was until today (other than I learned it could be an exotic pet from the Barenaked Ladies). It's a poultry animal. It doesn't seem like she is allergic to poultry, so I guess it's okay to feed it to her!

I have no idea what caused her BG to spike @+3 this morning.

That is all. Have a great night!

Maybe the spike was a bad strip. Not feeding between +6- preshot should not cause pancreatitis episodes. It’s just suggested small meals instead of big ones, especially during a flare.

Emu! Amazing! What sort of exotic meat purveyor stocks emu? The most exotic I’ve seen so far is alpaca, and I’m really tempted to buy it for Ruby!

Good luck with the new feeding schedule. :bighug:

I hope Butters falls in line. It feels like she finagled things to make you think she will die of hunger and pain without food for six hours ;) She seems a bit cheeky like that.

I have seen emus at a petting zoo a looong time ago. Very sweet. Ostriches OTOH are real jerks! Lol they are quite aggressive!

Food changes/experiments can also take days (or more) to show effect. Ostrich is reasonably common (though pricey) in the local raw pet food store, not seen emu. I've also see camel and water buffalo. Kangaroo is very common - I've also seen roo steaks and burgers at the local people food stores. I've also heard not to even let them try the most expensive meats, cause that's what they'll love the most. Fortunately though Neko really liked roo, it wasn't very expensive.

Start of cycle 13 at this dose. :D
