3/10 Fortune PMPS 519

Thank you for all of the help and support!!!

We may have slightly overcorrected with the HC

Should we bring him back down to 2.75 IU tonight?

It takes about 30 minutes for the hc to work so I think a little bit of an over correction. It's better than under corrections though. Now you both get a break.

Fortune hasn't eaten since we syringe fed him earlier today, and I'm wary to skip his shot completely as I don't want him to feel worse. I have offered him five different types of food, with and without fortiflora, warmed up, with added water, etc. And nothing.

We are going to keep trying, but it doesn't look like it is going to happen tonight.

What would a good "token" dose be?

Your new dose is 2.75 units. He doesn't need a "token dose" as he's sky high. Remember the recent ketones.

Ok we are giving him the full dose (2.75). Looks like his ketones went up (0.4 on the nova) :nailbiting:

He still won’t eat. DH is going to syringe feed a bit, but I think it put Fortune off of eating on his own. :( He seems very distant after we did it earlier

DH fed what we had, unfortunately it was one of the foods he liked, but he doesn’t seem to like very much right now. :(

Cats can develop food aversions to food they are syringe fed. I had a hepatic lipidosis kitty I fostered who completely went off chicken after feeding Recovery for a few weeks. Which is why getting something like a/d or Recovery are good, they aren't part of their usual diet. Neko, OTOH, did not develop aversions to food she was syringe fed. ECID.

I rather suspect Fortune will bounce and keep himself more than safe tonight.
