Well, we started out this morning with an AMPS that was at least not in the 400s, but I knew that with a dose increase and no R insulin to help out that it wasn't going to be a very good a.m. cycle. And it wasn't.
I've added in the R this evening, but still am not expecting much. He always goes higher with a dose increase (and frequently the second day is worse for him than the first, but now we hopefully can get help from the R).
Speaking of 30 units Lantus and then additional R.... we are now up to 30 units of Lantus. That's really about all I can afford. If a 10 L vial holds 1000 units total, and he's getting a total of 60 units per day, that vial will only last for 16 days. I can't go up to the really high doses that I have heard people using and still have money left to pay for food, vet bills for Darcy and the other cats around here. So I will have to limit the Lantus to 30 units and hopefully the Cabergoline will soon start helping out and reducing his insulin requirements. I paid $240 for the Cabergoline, although it is a large bottle and should last for some months. Soooo.... where do we go from here?
