? 2/22/21 Big Kitty PMPS 72- Holding dose

I am finally starting to see Big Kitty's numbers get out of the black and reds but he surprised me with a PMPS of 72 tonight. I am currently holding his PM dose and will check in an hour to see if he increases. He just ate some low carb wet food and is back to a nap. This is the lowest number I've gotten on him since his diagnosis in October. He reached a 99 about a week ago and I held his AM dose but he shot up 600 points by his PM dose so I don't want that happening again. Should I give him a half dose? Been having some trouble finding his nadir with the Lantus because I am not home enough to do spot checks during the day. I always check AM & PM but it's not giving me much data. Holding for now and will check a few more times this evening. No sleep for this worried mom.

Hi! On SLGS, the 72 is an automatic reduction. It sounds like you fed a full meal? In which case, I believe the earliest you'd shoot is 2 hours from the meal. Perhaps @tiffmaxee can stop by as I saw her stop by your previous post (linked here).

What Susanne said is correct. The new dose will be 4.25. Waiting two hours would throw off your schedule and take 2 days to get back to your shot time so unless that doesn’t bother you I would just skip.

Ok. So I just saw this post and had checked his BG again and it shot up to 132. I gave some medium carb wet food and gave him 4.25 units for his PM dose. I figured since he's on the rise I should shoot so he doesn't skyrocket over night. Hope that was the right thing to do.... I'll continue to check to make sure he's okay over night.

On your SS, you want to put the number you shot in your AMPS / PMPS cells. So your PMPS cell tonight would be: 72@+12, 132@+13 - you will have to manually color it green (with white writing) using the paint bucket. The +1 cell would then be +1 from when you shot.

Hope that helps :bighug:

Back up to 222 +1. I guess that medium carb did a number on him even though it's only 15% carb wet. He's used to no more than 5% carb wet food daily but he does eat a lot of it. Thank you for the feedback with the SS and I hope I updated it correctly. Thanks for all the help! :bighug:

Our kitties certainly like to keep us on our toes. We worry when their BG is high and worry when their BG is low. We love them so much but a good night's sleep would be appreciated. But they are so worth all the time and attention we lavish on them.

You are welcome! And you are close! The PMPS cell should have "72@+12, 132@+13" all in the same cell - you would still color it green because that's the lowest value BUT you shot the 132 so that needs to be in the PMPS cell too. Right now, your SS says you shot the 72. Once that's corrected then your 222 would go in the +1 cell and the 226 would go in the +2 cell. @Bandit's Mom can help with the SS if you need or want her too - just let her know!
