2/16 Ruby PMPS 134 (!!)/+2 75/+4 70 Greenie's alternative?

Morning Katherine, that's such great news that Ruby is back to eating without the meds. I hope Olive is feeling better . Have a good day Katherine.
No more shenanigans Ruby ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug:
I am relieved about Ruby. Not only is she eating but we got some playing yesterday, a satisfying poop, and a snuggly loud purring session. She seems back to herself. Olive however still isn’t eating much despite the Cerenia injection by the vet yesterday, which worries me because she’s already a bit underweight at 9 lbs. Waiting for the vet to call with blood test results.

Aww I'm sorry Olive is still feeling poorly. I hope she feels better soon :bighug:

I see that Ruby's not experiencing a dramatic change in numbers on the 0.25 dose. Buddy's the same. Barely noticed the increase from 0.1 to 0.25 :confused:

What is up with these kitties? :rolleyes: I tell Ruby how much I’d love for her to be off insulin so that Mommy can sleep in and have socially distanced drinks with friends in the evenings. Maybe you can try to convince Buddy and Ruby will get wind and follow suit? ;)

Haha, tell me about it! My whole schedule is different. I used to be a major night owl. Now my life revolves around test, feed, shoot times alone.

So happy to hear Ruby is off meds and doing well! :bighug:
Thanks for suggesting the Petlinks toy for Butters. I have bought so many toys that she has completely ignored, sadly.

Ruby's PMPS tonight was definitely caused by the two Greenies pill pockets used for her meds (yes, I had to put her back on them again as she didn't eat her AM+4 meal and refused food all afternoon, highly unusual). Are there good alternatives to pill pockets? Something else that I can use to wrap around the pill, leaving the pill itself undetected?

Hi Katherine, I would take the smallest piece of a pill pocket, just enough to wrap around the pill, then roll it in FortiFlora. Dolly’s numbers didn’t seem to be affected and she did well for once a day for 30 days. Hopefully the pill is small. One sachet of FortiFlora goes a long way. Sometimes she didn’t like this but I would put the wrapped and rolled pill on a paper plate with extra FortiFlora for her to lick up. The paper plate made her suspicious at times o_O. Also, I used the transdermal Mirtazapine for an appetite stimulant. Good luck. So happy she is feeling better :joyful:. Sending big hugs to Olive and Ruby. Have a nice night Katherine. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

If you are giving Cerenia, which is bitter, try putting it in a blank gel cap first, try size #4. Alternatives to pill pockets I've heard of are something like a chunk of meat or organ. I've seen frozen chicken hearts advertised as alternatives. For the Greenies, the dog duck version are lower carb.
