Buddy had a nice AMPS again today. PM cycle +9 is still being stubborn. I could try doing a +6 snack, so that would be at 2am for me. Does anyone else do that?

It is a bit of a difficult decision. Food does bring his bg down, but he realllly needs to shed the pounds. I'm already struggling to keep his calories to what he's currently getting. Which is too much as is. His constant hunger is driving me crazy. You'd swear the guys hasn't eaten in days.

Still looking good! Yes my buddy seems to have 4 hollow legs and a hollow tail I swear. have you tried some boiled chicken breast as a snack to keep him happy in between meals? just a few bites seems to work here.

Hi Sandra! My computer setup is in the kitchen nook so it's a constant battle here :cat::banghead:

I have some freeze dried chicken breast treats which he loves! So I'm sure he'll love plain boiled chicken breast too. But I don't know if I'll save any calories that way. Some of his food is pretty much zero carb which I imagine is the same as giving chicken breast. I'm battling to keep the calories down and him satisfied.

What about taking out the proper amount of food for the day and then dividing it up through each cycle. So give less at each feeding. As m I making sense?

I'm not sure about the snack but he's still looking beautiful!

Not sure if someone has shared this with you, but here's a blog with info on weight/calories/etc - https://catinfo.org/feline-obesity-an-epidemic-of-fat-cats/

Thank you Susanne! I've spent a lot of time reading Dr. Pierson's site. She makes it sound so easy to just limit the calories. I know he'll lose weight if I give him less. It's just that he won't accept less. He will sit looking at the empty plate as soon as he finishes eating.

This is what's going on next to me right as I'm typing this..

Thanks Elise! I actually try to do that. I usually get the cans together first thing in the morning. Right now I'm aiming for 300 calories. My hope is to reduce gradually. But he kicks up an incredible fuss during the day for food. So I end up giving a little here and there when he's been going completely ballistic. I know sticking to a strict feeding schedule will help but I haven't been able to do that. It doesn't help that my work/computer setup is close to where he eats. He is relentless.

Night time I actually get a break. So introducing more food at night makes me very, very scared!

I did get a Feliway diffuser today. I read somewhere it could help with anxiety when they need to lose weight. Will let you guys know how it goes!

I totally can empathize. My current two are fed 3 times a day and a before bed snack. They start screaming for food 30-60 minutes before lunch and dinner. When I get a life post Covid epidemic again they will be able to meow as much as they want but I won’t hear them, lol. It’s actually a pleasure to have cats that love their food even though they are relentless.

I just have to learn to harden my heart ;) But the yells are hard to ignore huh?
You're right. We should definitely be grateful for the appetite too. :bighug:
