Everything's been great in Rubyland. She's been eating well and playing like a kitten. Still waiting for those AMPS numbers to lower. Seems that the +9, predawn snacks aren't having much of an effect yet but I will keep trying. Going to attempt another round of subQ this afternoon. Wish us luck!

Sending healing thoughts to all of the sick kitties and hugs to you beans who love them so. Have a great day, everyone. :bighug:

Not putting up with the subQ today. Tried with treats, on the couch, on the bed, with DBF, without DBF. Did get the needle in at some point but I guess it poked through as all of the fluids leaked out. She's so skinny that it's hard to tent. :banghead: Will try again tomorrow.

Sorry the fluids didn't work out :bighug: Cute video - have you gotten ruby the Cat Dancer before? I sometimes can't believe I pay money for a bit of cardboard on a wire but my cats go crazy for it. Hope you had a wonderful day!

I have a Cat Dancer! It's probably the 10th one I've ever gotten them because the cardboard falls off. :p The cats liked it more when they were younger, as they did the laser pointer. Now the toy of choice is that kitchen twine in the video. They pick it up and drag it around the house in their mouths, crying like they've conquered a giant snake.

I'm fighting the same battle with Buddy right now.. the higher AMPS numbers.

I couldn't get him to eat at +9 until yesterday. I finally put the autofeeder loaded with food in the room with us and I think that smelling the food for a few hours helped motivate him to eat at +9.

Not sure if you've tried that yet, so wanted to throw it out there.

I always thought the Cat Dancer was this stripy thing I got Buddy but now I see it's actually the brand name, and I got him the 'rainbow charmer'. He hissed at it once and then ignored it lol. The wire/carboard thing might be more up his alley. Buddy likes very lo-tech stuff.

Hi Mariette, Buddy and Ruby have very similar looking numbers. I have been feeding at +9 before her AMPS (4 AM for me, and I am the autofeeder :p). I've tried a zero carb +9 snack and a 9% +9 snack, and tonight I'm going to try 4%. She has absolutely no trouble gobbling it down every time as she loves her food, but it doesn't seem to be having much effect on her AMPS. Elise said I might need to do it for a week for her pancreas to do its thing, and so far it's been day 4 that I've been doing it consistently. Clearly she's not ready to be off insulin yet and I'm not willing to rush it, so I'm gonna add more elastic to those patience pants and wait. :) If after a week it doesn't do much I will stop the snack and see what happens.

Ohh I see. So she is eating them. :cat:
Sorry I wasn't quite up to date on your previous posts. I tried to navigate to the previous condos but got an error.

Lol I was the autofeeder too, but Buddy wouldn't eat. It's strange but it seems the lingering food smell in the room is enough trigger for him to be interested in the food. I thought you might have the same issue.

Ruby's numbers are really good though on such a tiny dose. I'm sure she's close to shaking off those AM numbers.

I am a little suspicious of the feeding in the AM I must admit. It seems to me that if it's not really a pattern I want to have to keep up the numbers should not have to be supported with the food. So eventually I'd want to remove that snack too. Hopefully the numbers will click into place at the lower setting when our babies are ready.

I am lol-ing so hard at this :joyful::joyful::joyful:

My old men still like the cat dancer...you know for their 2.5 minutes of playing a day lol. Twine is up there too over here but mine are chewers so I get worried they'll eat it (they not the sharpest kitties sometimes ;))

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, as I don't plan to be getting up at 4 AM forever to feed Ruby to kick start her pancreas every morning. Hopefully it will click as you say!
