I knew I would do the continued thread wrong, thanks. Though I lost my mentors. RJ, still high, 4.25 units this morning.
Question, RJ was on lantis for three weeks, still have 220ml left. On prozinc for five weeks. Can I switch back to lantis, if so, how many units? Thanks. Would like to use the rest of lantis at some point.. RJ really not responding to anything..

I just tagged again. When you want to put your previous post on your new post
go all the way to the top of the page , its above the pic of the cat in the upper left hand corner , with the insulin vial next to him , above there you will see the long box that starts with :http
that is you previous thread , copy that and then go to your new post and paste
it. You would paste it where you would begin to write what you want to say

I'm sorry you aren't seeing much movement. Yes, time to increase. If we wind up getting up to about 6 units, consider having him tested for IAA/ACRO. There may be something else going on here.

Yes U40 syringes. Just bought 1/2 marking U40. Will up to 4.5 units tonight. Been thinking, why he is insulin resistant?
Seems like the more units, the higher BG. Back to 500BG. Don't know what those tests will cost. I'm in for $2,000 plus now..
What we do for our kids!!!

Don't lose hope. I felt the same about Buddy after not seeing any improvement for weeks. For us 4.5 units was the magic number where he suddenly started responding. I'm sure you'll see some response soon. Just keep doing what you're doing.

The test was a couple hundred I believe. All vet stuff is expensive. :(

So, Ok to still give 4.25 units when Raymond James tested lower than ever, 411/379 at 3pm.. That's a question, do i still give high units when he is testing lower??
Like you said not until he is in yellow/blue, then what dosage decreases to?? I'm no vet.. Thanks... Only have 1/2 marking syringes. Don't know what 0.5 would be.. Thanks!!!
And may change at 9pm BG...

0.5 IS a half unit. I'm saying you would go from 4. To 4.5, to 5, to 5.5. A half unit at a time. Your cat in these pink and reds is way way too high. A 411/379 on a human meter would probably be about a 475-550 on a pet meter. You don't need to start decreasing until hes under 90. Normal on a human meter is 50-120.

When you want to tag someone at the end of your sentence , your last word leave a space and then type @JanetNJ
You must see it in blue letters when you are done

Forget to ask, how is your sugar baby???
She's ok. No appetite the other day but ate better yesterday. I'm hoping she's back to normal today. She has other issues going on with ckd and hyperthyroidism, so the diabetes is the least of her worries.

Sorry to hear that. Years ago, never had cats with so many illness or maybe they were never tested like today. We left our cats out in the day and they came in at night. Not now. Hope she feels better. Hate when they don't eat!!

Hi Lee.

Do you think insulin upsets their stomach? RJ threw up clear yesterday but ate.
In some cases, yes I do but that's based on empirical observation and information posted here by other caregivers. Lantus can cause GI upsets in some humans, so it's not unreasonable to consider it might also cause similar in some cats.

WRT throwing up clear liquid vomitus, I've found that my cats have done that when they have gone too long without eating (usually any time after 3 to 3.5 hours) but there are all manner of reasons why a cat may vomit. If it's just a once in a blue moon thing then that should hopefully not be a problem, but if it's any way frequent (even if it's once every week or fortnight) I'd suggest giving your vet a call to see whether they'd recommend a check-up.
