Blue is 323 AMPS. He woke me last night throwing up. I turned on the light about 5 a.m.
when I heard it. He didn't actually leave anything behind but I felt so sorry for him.
I tucked him back in to his scale and pet him a few minutes. He seems okay this morning,
and has eaten and taken his meds.
My Teddy bear is attacking Blue. He's never done that before and I know cats can sense
illness in another cat. It's upsetting me so I've got to work on something to stop that
behavior. I have some Jackson Galaxy Bully Solution so will try that today. If I have to
I'll have to isolate Teddy, not Blue.
Tuesday can't come fast enough.
This photo popped up in memories today. My mom with Blue 6 years ago when she first moved in with me.

I don't know for sure if he did but I suspect he did by the look and size of the poo. It's hard with 6 cats.
I bought 2 camera's so I could monitor but can't figure out the set up.
 
Well, the craziness continues. I guess I should have checked +1 but he was marching on me and wanting love. I just tested +2 and he's down to 101 so quite a drop. I fed him a little of the 10%.
 
I went ahead and tested again and he's down to 60 +3 so I'm feeding a bit of the 16%.
Probably needs to go down since he's dropping so fast.

I had the time wrong. It's +3 since I shot at 8:45

Worth bearing in mind that the depot from the 0.5IU dose can affect levels for up to 6 cycles after the last dose of that size.

Also, Blue has never needed a lot of insulin so his pancreas must be doing at least some of the lifting.

Sorry I've not been around much, Patty. I'm absolutely smothered and wiped out with a cold again. Very much here in spirit, mind.

She definitely developed an aversion to the CKD kibble because she just wouldn't touch it in spite of being really hungry. Out of desperation I moved her to a 50:50 mix of her old gastro kibble and the CKD stuff and I'm now supplementing her with B vitamins. She's also getting a small dose of bupe twice a day and just the one dose of ondansetron at the moment.

Good Changes (anti-jinx):

* Appetite OK.
* Actually willing to eat when she's hungry.
* Getting enough food to maintain weight on most days.
* Pooping more regularly (thankfully no GI upset despite the abrupt change of diet - the gastro stuff is designed for sensitive digestive systems).
* Much better mood and sociability.
* Much more alert, active and engaged.
* Chattier.
* Seems more comfortable in herself overall.
* (Saving the best for last...) She's singing again! (((Noodle))) :cat:

Bad Changes:

* The 50:50 mix is too high in protein and phosphorus and will put more strain on her kidneys. :( (I can use AlOH to balance the phosphorus content but I can't do anything about the higher protein %.)

I'm going to give it another few days and then try to gradually adjust the proportions to the minimum % of the gastro kibble she'll accept.

It's so hard that she won't eat the stuff she needs and having to resort to something that's not as good for her, but what good is the CKD stuff to her if she'd sooner starve than eat it? The Noodle is a much, much happier girl since the change: I've got my cat back.

That's really good news. I understand the dilemma of wanting them to eat certain food and them turning up their noses. You know full well what they should be eating but as you said, you’ve got your girl back. Sometimes quality looks better than quantity. Having had felines with kidney disease I know the battle but you are juggling more than that with Noodlebug. I'm happy she's back! Enjoy her.

Thanks for showing off my boy. He's not only handsome but a sweetheart mamma's boy.
 
Was just looking back on one of Saoirse's daily journals and came across something I'd forgotten. When she was on metoclopramide it made her pee more so I thought I'd pass on that snippet in case you might need to keep an eye on Blue's fluid consumption while he's taking it.

Good to know about the med. I haven't noticed him peeing a lot yet but will be alert.
I'm so happy Noodle is so perky. Happy for you both that she's not feeling badly and you aren't upset about her being unwell. :bighug:
Thanks for caring about Blue. I was lucky to adopt him and Layla. They're such a joy.

When she had finished the first course of antibiotics she really perked up. After the prolonged spell of diarrhoea it caused, I was longing for the completion of the second course to come so that she'd start perking up again and when it didn't happen I was so crestfallen for her. (((Noodle))) :( The ensuing ups and downs have been so hard - on both of us - but it doesn't matter about me: Lúnasa's well-being is what counts. With the latest developments the penny finally dropped with me that she was on the gastro support food when she came off the antibiotic first time round, so that's what made the difference. I just want her to be as well and happy as she can be, but it's hard to know that the food that helps her in one respect harms in the other. Sometimes, though, the right food is the one that agrees with the cat and that it can reliably eat.

You were stressed out about it last week and I didn't know how to help. You figured it out and now she's back. I'm so happy for you both.
Now that she gets better you now are sick again! What's up with that?

He ate at 4:00 and I fed him at 8:30 for his insulin. He's at 239 +1 and I'd like to feed him a little something but don't want to if his tummy is upset. I might wait another hour and just give him a drop of LC
