Hi everyone i was trying not to tell a long story but Binky is sick again this morning. Our beloved Perkins had diabetes and passed away in 2017. I couldn't bring myself back here to talk about it because it was to painful. Anyway we still had our Binky to focus on. Back in April he started throwing up and not eating. We took him to the vet, they found a high white blood cell count, his blood sugar was 175, his pancreas enzymes were only slightly elevated, one vet said it was stress that caused the high sugar another said he could be prediabetic. They gave him fluids, antibiotics, apatite pills. He got better, then in June the same thing happened, once again his bloodwork showed the same and they gave him the same treatment. He was fine all this time, then on Thanksgiving 1 AM he started throwing up again, we had one of the worst thanksgiving ever worried all day about Binky because our vet was closed. We got him there Friday, they had us drop him off because the vet was booked. We said he needs fluids right away, they brought him in and found his temp was 107 they told us that can be a fatal temp so something must be majorly wrong , so they gave him fluids and put ice packs on him, they called about 12 and said they wanted to do bloodwork and x-ray, we said yes, we didn't hear back until 3:30 they said his sugar was just a little high and his white blood cell count was high again x-ray looked good but bladder looked a little big. They said he could go home a 5:30. We called at 5 they said his temp is going back up, well yeah, they only gave him fluids no antibiotics no fever reducer they just treated the symptoms. Anyway the vet said to give him the antibiotic they sent him home with which was 125mg of Clavamox twice a day, baytril, and a fever reducer, apatite pills. I told the vet binky was not eating should i still give him the meds he said yes, so i did as soon as we got home. He did eat very little a few hours latter, but then this morning he seemed better, Binky is missing a lot of fur on his stomach so i touched there to see is he still had a temp and he started drooling heavy, we called the vet back and a new vet said to come over, they gave him more fluids more anti nausea shot this time a convenia shot instead of pills, she also said binkys bladder was very full, she put a catheter in and a flood of urine came out, she said she checked it for blood and it was positive and maybe he has a Uti so they are doing a urinalyses, mean while our Binky is still not eating, we have paid close to 2,000 dollars and still don't know what the problem is. I am so scared of liver failure, Binky was a rescue back in 2013, long story short a neighbor left him when he moved we feed him outside until one day he stopped eating, he went into liver failure and needed a feeding tube, we can't ever go through that again and most of all we can't afford that, we have very little left on our care credit card. Binky is our once in a life time cat, we can't loose him so any advise would be much appreciated. Sorry about the long story.

he just licked up a little fancy feast soup, is this enough, i'm starting to panic. We loved all our cats the same but Binky is a once in a life time cat we can't loose him

Looks like Abad infection. Usually antibiotics kick in within 48 hours... I hope you see improvement tomorrow. Antibiotics can cause tummy upset and diarrhea.

OK...those are liver tests....if they are normal, then his liver is OK.

The WBC is high which indicates an infection
i see that is great, we want to keep it that way, i remember back when we first rescued Binky back in 2013 he stopped eating, when we went to the vet they said his liver was fine but then a week or so latter he went into liver failure that is why i am so stressed plus he just tried to go pee pee and he couldn't

Sounds like a crystal blockage. That's serious

Sadly I have dealt with urinary blockages twice this year with my Vengeance..First time was in Feb this year If he has licked the fur off his belly which was the first sign that something was wrong with Venge also he was refusing to eat or drink very much I didnt recognize that being I had never had a cat have a blockage before.. if hes fixed they are far far more prone and if hes overweight. If hes walking back and forth to the litter box he prob has a blockage starting or happening.. it also go hand in hand with the high wbc and infection due to it causes them to get an almost instant UTI from what my vet said. You need to get him to the vet asap they can feel his bladder and see if its full and blocked the first time it happen to venge it was super serious and was running a high temp as well. they had to put a Cather in him and flush out the crystals ( if they can squeeze some pee out of him they will test it for crystals and blood and know besides the full bladder) he ended up in the cat hospital for 4 days then.. came home on a urethra relaxing med and antibiotics and etc for 2 weeks after... then he started the running back and forth every 2 mins meowing and etc again back in Aug ( Feb was at 4am on a sat) and then the next was 10 pm on a sunday but the 2nd time he was not fully blocked yet they were able to squeeze some urine out so they gave him the urethra relaxing med and pain meds and etc and sent him home that night to see how he was the next day for me to call... I sat up with him all night and he was in pain and stuff and on my bed and about that time he stood and and started trying to pee on my bed.. I was keeping a towel there and threw it under him and he kept pushing and about that time the damn burst and he peeded everywhere ... in the middle of me cleaning up my bed ( glad he was not blocked now but now needing a new comforter and glad I have mattress protectors on my bed) I found the crystal is was like half the size of a grain of rice... I took pics of it sent them to my vet the next day and they said yes he had passed the crystal.. he did pee blood off and on for a week after which they said would be expected and finally got back to normal.. the long winded part to this is that if he is blocked it is an emergency situation being it will cause toxins to build up quickly.. rereading you said they did the catheter already but if hes still blocked up after they didnt get the crystal to break apart and it has reblocked him I think. I see you have not posted back so Hopefully you took Blinky in and he is getting what he needs.. Im sorry about the loss of your Perkins.. I am new here just this week being Vengeance was diagnosed with Diabetes after getting a Depo steriod shot for his diagnosed earlier last week Asthma and that seems to have kicked in diabetes thou he had gotten steroid shots during the 2 urinary track issues as well.. and had lost a lot of weight since.. I will say a prayer (hope thats allowed here) that Blinky is ok and recovers quickly..

Hi everyone, I want to give an update one Binky. Binky started throwing up early thanksgiving morning. Friday the vet said his temp was 107 which can be fatal. Long story short Saturday night he was still very sick, eating very little. He didn't pee after he was given fluids. We prayed and asked the Lord Jesus Christ to heal our Binky. I commanded the sickness to leave in Jesus' name. About an hour or so later he came out and ate twice and made two pee pees. God put Binky on the road to recovery. The vets never gave us a diagnosis. This is not the first time God has helped us with Binky. Back in 2013 when we rescued Binky he needed a feeding tube due to liver failure, another long story short the feeding tube wasn't helping, he couldn't hold food down, he was drooling throwing up and couldn't walk without falling over, his ears were bright yellow. The vet sent him home to die. I spoke to his liver in Jesus name to function normally. My faith was weak because that night I was on the computer looking up liver failure in a cat when I heard a cry coming from the room he was in. There he was at the door wanting to come out, still wobbly but walking, i knew something was going on, i looked at his ears and they were no longer yellow. He was no longer drooling. We opened him up his favorite food and for the first time in 2 weeks he ate on his own. I'm not a religious person and neither was Jesus. In the bible you will not find one time where he spoke harshly to sinners, he only spoke harshly to the religious hypocrites of his day. The sinners He healed and showed grace to. So what is my point? God loves animals, the bible says But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground with your Father knowing it. I like what I heard a minister say about that scripture: he said God attends the funeral of every sparrow. God put our Binky on the road to recover on Saturday but it took me all this time to get over my doubt and fear. But God is so full of grace and mercy, He knew way back in 2013 when He first healed our Binky that i would still have doubt and fear the second time He healed our Binky but He still did it again. Of course we have prayed in the past for animals and they still died, but they were healed because they are now with Him. They were healed just not the way I wanted it. If you ever see the way i react in traffic when someone blows the horn at me you would never think i was a Christian, but that is what grace is for. Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” I learned all this by watching Joseph Prince, he is also on Youtube. Before i watched his preaching i always thought God was mad at me and was disappointed in me, which is so far from the truth. God loves us and just wants us to come to Him just the way we are. I don't know why Binky got sick again, but i do feel God wanted me to post my story because He wants to be known as the loving God who loves people as well as animals. May God bless you and your beloved cats.
