Hi everyone i was trying not to tell a long story but Binky is sick again this morning. Our beloved Perkins had diabetes and passed away in 2017. I couldn't bring myself back here to talk about it because it was to painful. Anyway we still had our Binky to focus on. Back in April he started throwing up and not eating. We took him to the vet, they found a high white blood cell count, his blood sugar was 175, his pancreas enzymes were only slightly elevated, one vet said it was stress that caused the high sugar another said he could be prediabetic. They gave him fluids, antibiotics, apatite pills. He got better, then in June the same thing happened, once again his bloodwork showed the same and they gave him the same treatment. He was fine all this time, then on Thanksgiving 1 AM he started throwing up again, we had one of the worst thanksgiving ever worried all day about Binky because our vet was closed. We got him there Friday, they had us drop him off because the vet was booked. We said he needs fluids right away, they brought him in and found his temp was 107 they told us that can be a fatal temp so something must be majorly wrong , so they gave him fluids and put ice packs on him, they called about 12 and said they wanted to do bloodwork and x-ray, we said yes, we didn't hear back until 3:30 they said his sugar was just a little high and his white blood cell count was high again x-ray looked good but bladder looked a little big. They said he could go home a 5:30. We called at 5 they said his temp is going back up, well yeah, they only gave him fluids no antibiotics no fever reducer they just treated the symptoms. Anyway the vet said to give him the antibiotic they sent him home with which was 125mg of Clavamox twice a day, baytril, and a fever reducer, apatite pills. I told the vet binky was not eating should i still give him the meds he said yes, so i did as soon as we got home. He did eat very little a few hours latter, but then this morning he seemed better, Binky is missing a lot of fur on his stomach so i touched there to see is he still had a temp and he started drooling heavy, we called the vet back and a new vet said to come over, they gave him more fluids more anti nausea shot this time a convenia shot instead of pills, she also said binkys bladder was very full, she put a catheter in and a flood of urine came out, she said she checked it for blood and it was positive and maybe he has a Uti so they are doing a urinalyses, mean while our Binky is still not eating, we have paid close to 2,000 dollars and still don't know what the problem is. I am so scared of liver failure, Binky was a rescue back in 2013, long story short a neighbor left him when he moved we feed him outside until one day he stopped eating, he went into liver failure and needed a feeding tube, we can't ever go through that again and most of all we can't afford that, we have very little left on our care credit card. Binky is our once in a life time cat, we can't loose him so any advise would be much appreciated. Sorry about the long story.
