Because I haven’t followed you and don’t want to go back and read it all I have a few questions. How much do you feed at amps/PMPS? I’m trying to determine if there’s a food bump. Excluding the need to feed to guide the curve, what is your feeding schedule? Thanks.

Lily's normal feeding schedule is one large meal AM and PM. Also see next post.

ETA: While off insulin, Lily got a food bump after a LC meal of roughly 50 points on average.

Here's the effect of feeding small amounts of LC mid-cycle on Lily's very first Lantus cycle, 17 November (dose 0.25IU).

+3.00 - 167 - Fed 1 tsp LC.
+3.50 - 102 - Fed 2 tsps LC (got no bump/slowdown from the 1tsp LC at +3.00).
+4.00 - 118 - Fed 1 tsp LC (got small bump from the 2tsp LC at +3.50).
+4.50 - 121 - No food given (held steady after 1tsp LC at +4.00).
+5.00 - 123 - No food given (holding steady without any food at +4.50).

Sally, here's an abridged version of the above. It would be helpful to you to add it to the spreadsheet Remarks for 17 November so that you'll be able to refer back to it should you need to steer Lily's numbers at some stage in the future (shows the effect of LC food on her BG level).

+3.00 - 167 - Fed 1 tsp LC.
+3.50 - 102 - Fed 2 tsps LC.
+4.00 - 118 - Fed 1 tsp LC.

I feed Lily 2 times a day every 12 hours. 7 am/7 pm

Hi Sally,

I see Lily's thinking about coming down a bit. If you can manage it, I'd suggest doing a spot check somewhere between last test and end of the cycle, also an AM+11.5 and then a PMPS so that you can hopefully see how her levels are trending before this evening's dosing decision. Note that if the bounce breaks her numbers may come down a lot from where they are now so I'd advocate a cautious approach this evening.

@tiffmaxee - If you're around later, Elise, would you be able to look in on Sally and Lily to help with tonight's dosing decision?

BTW, Sally, if ever you get stuck and Feline Health is quiet you can always post for help on the Lantus board. Set a question mark flag against the title of the thread (board can be very busy and this will attract attention to your thread). Also, include a link back to your Feline Health thread so that anyone responding to the Lantus post will be able to follow you here and be able to catch up on events earlier in the day.
