I wouldn't call it "disappointed"....you're still very new to the sugardance and it can take awhile to get signs of improvement.
First, it's important to get tests on the PM cycle too...at least a "before bed" test. Most cats go lower at night so it's important for safety as well as knowing what's going on for half the day! Only testing on the AM cycle is like doing a puzzle but only putting pieces in on the left side....makes it impossible to know what's on the right side of the puzzle!
Next, we have two dosing methods with Lantus. After the first 5-7 days (which are the days where you're building the depot), you can start increasing the dose if it's not getting the results you want. On Tight Regulation, you only have to hold the dose for 6 cycles before deciding if you need to increase again. On Start Low, Go Slow, you hold the same dose for 7 days before changing the dose (unless he drops too low at any time on either method)
Here are the
Two dosing methods. You don't have to choose one right now but you'll need to consider it soon.
TR gives the best chance at remission because you increase the dose more often until you get the numbers you want but it requires more testing, especially if your cat is dropping into lower numbers. SLGS has you hold the dose for at least 7 days which means holding the dose for a week even if it's not getting the results you want. But with SLGS, you are less likely to have to do as much testing.
Right now, I'd suggest going ahead and increasing Prince's dose up to 1.25 for at least the next 6 cycles and try to get at least a couple of tests in between the AM and PM shot (if possible) and at least 1 "before bed" test on the PM cycle.
