Hi, my cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I was wondering if I can still give him treats? If so which ones are safe?
As for treats I see some members buy these and they will buy the same one for dogs they are exactly the same just bigger, so break them up, you will get more for your money, check it out on the Chewy siteHi, my cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I am!Are you interested in joining this bunch of crazy cat lovers ?

Not yet. He was Diagnosed 2 days ago...Vet wants me to change his diet then make an appointment to get the insulin settled. I have a unique situation, I was born without limbs, so giving him insulin and taking his sugars is going to be difficult. If anybody has any suggestions on how someone without hands can do this I would appreciate it.
Are you home testing kitties blood glucose? Its the only real way to keep him safe AND best of all we can teach you how to do it!
Not true. Any kind of pure protein treat is fine for a diabetic cat. So cheese, bits of pure raw or cooked meat or fish, freeze dried treats, etc are all fine. The only treats safe for diabetic cats are freeze-dried protein treats. Luckily there are a LOT of different protein options, so you should be able to find one or two your cat likes! One of my cats loves the duck liver ones, while others love the rabbit. There was a cat at the rescue whose favorite were the minnows.

I live alone so everything is set up so I do most things myself. I do have an assistant (who loves Epic) who comes 3 days a week. I have special equipment to do daily tasks and I use a prosthetic arm when it's needed. Not true. Any kind of pure protein treat is fine for a diabetic cat. Perhaps if you let us know how do you handle daily life tasks now, we can come up with suggestions? Things that everyone needs to do, like cooking or brushing your teeth or hair?

Assistants! Minions! Helpers! Whatever you want to call them, it's nice to have people to help you out with life responsibilities.I do have an update, I got several volunteers in the building that I live in to help me give epic his injections when he starts them! I am very grateful for everybody's help.

This just makes me SMILEEpic update. He’s eating his new food, and loves it. His blood sugar isn’t spiking from his breakfast, so he’s not drinking as much. He’s actually eating the whole can of food which makes me incredibly happy. I bought three kinds of the freeze-dried treats. He wouldn’t touch the Minnow, but loves the chicken giblets. He’s back to walking around with his tail up, and he’s purring loud as ever.
