Could you grab a +2 before you head out the door? A lot of times that can almost predict what the rest of the cycle will be like. If you're up at 5:30/6am, you could test/feed/shoot (should only take you 5-10 minutes at most) and then test at 8 which would be the +2.

On the PM cycle, if you get home in time you could T/F/S again at 6pm (you don't have to wait for him to eat before you shoot....he just has to be willing to eat) and then get a +2 at 8pm and maybe a +4 at 10pm? (don't know what time you try to get to bed)

I’m not much of a morning person. I have a sleep disorder and wake up constantly throughout the night so I’m pretty bleary first thing. I’m trying to get down a routine. I nuke the rice bag while I start coffee, then go warm up his ear and test, go downstairs and feed the cats, come back up and feed the dog, prep the insulin syringe, grab my coffee and check the news. Sailor is a slow eater, he usually comes back up when he’s finished. All in all it’s about a 30 minute routine.
I just never know when he’ll be willing to eat, his appetite has been off since he was diagnosed on the 11th. He’s been on an appetite stimulant but he threw up all day yesterday until I gave him an anti nausea pill. Those seemed to have worked well, no vomiting today and he’s eating better.
I’m worried that he has pancreatitis. I’ll call his dr tomorrow.

He’s eating right now. He seems to prefer the Friskies pate over the fancy feast. Good thing his sister Lula loves the fancy feast, well to be fair she loves any wet food And we have a lot of fancy feast! No vomiting or diarrhea as far as I can tell today. I think it may have been the abrupt change in his diet that upset his tummy. I think I’m going to just keep him at 0.5 Lantus dose Every 12 hours this week and see how he does.

Sailor’s numbers have been pretty low for the past six days or so. I’m going to do another curve over the weekend. I was wondering, what the criteria is for remission? I didn’t shoot last night or this morning because his numbers were so low, and I won’t be home today to keep an eye on him. He’s been eating better and acting normal other than he’s still peeing outside the litter box. I have the floor surrounding the box covered with potty pads and he’s going there.
 
Well that is fabulous news! Here's a thought - get a test in a few hours after feeding if you are skipping the dose. If the number dips down past pre-shot, that is an indication of pancreatic activity.

I think you should post over in the Lantus forum and ask about remission dosing. You are swapping between no insulin and 0.50u. Ideally you want to do something more like 0.10u or 0.25u each cycle so you can keep the BG low. Giving nothing and then 0.5u offsets the depot, it's much better to be able to give a lower dose of something every time than a big dose and no dose.

Please make a post over there (this one's a little long anyway!) asking for near-remission dosing advice and I can even ping some members over there to look at your SS. :)
 
The first mark on the syringes I have is the 0.5. I’m also planning to do a curve over the extended (for me) weekend. I’ll post over in the Lantus forum. I’m just scared that It will throw him into hypo if I give him insulin when his numbers are so low.
