9/24/20 Sad News, from Jayla: Dre 9/23/2020

With a heavy heart and tears I just made contact with a Jayla. She had to let Dre go yesterday. He was her soul kitty and they were so connected. He was a miracle cat and fought so hard to come back from so many illnesses to be with her. It was not diabetes that took him as with so many fur babies here. I know she will appreciate hearing from you. Prayers for a soft landing dear Dre. Give your fur babies an extra hug tonight. cat_wings>o:rb_icon::bighug:

(((Jayla)))

@jayla-n-Drevon my heartfelt sympathies. We have crossed paths here over the last few years. I know it feels like a piece of you is missing, and it can be so hard to not have them near anymore... give yourself time to grieve.

This poem helped me when I lost my heart dog...ya, he was a drooler, but the kitties don't mind me sharing :bighug: I don't remember where I found it, but am quoting as I had written it down many years ago.

"A Poem For The Grieving

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die...

Anonymous"

Fly free sweet Dre, and there are some butterflies for you to chase now cat_wings>o
I will light a candle tonight for Dre :bighug::bighug:

Jayla, you are a hero. You are his hero. That is what Dre will be telling every cat he happens to meet. The cats will ask him how old he was when he passed and exclaim, "Wow! Really?" And Dre will tell them the story of your love and devotion.
I'm so sorry for your loss, and your pain, and wish we all could surround you and listen to your stories about Dre and hug you in person. This will have to do – :bighug: – and when you are ready, we will listen to your stories.

I have no words to adequately say thank you to each person. My heart is broken and my home is empty.
I guess I never imagined life without my boys...Dre was devastated when Rico went to the bridge.
Your kind words mean so much to me especially when you always wonder if I did this or that....

Thank you all so much :bighug::rb_icon:
And thank you @tiffmaxee for being so supportive and thoughtful.:bighug:

Dear Jayla,
Dre was such a fine kitty, and a venerable guy. I am so sorry for your loss. Our GA kitties are always there for us: just look around that bend in the path and he'll be just ahead with a spring in his step and love for you in his eyes.

Fly free, sweet Dre, on your beautiful new golden wings. cat_wings>o You are much loved.

In deepest sympathy,

Ella & Edward, Rusty (GA) and Stu (GA)

Jayla, I am so, so sorry that it was time for your sweet soul kitty Dre to fly.cat_wings>o
I would do anything to ease the weight of your pain even a little bit if I could. But I know there are no words. :bighug:

Dre has a legacy on the board, and Rico too. You and I have not really interacted, yet I have learned so much from reading your posts and your boys' spreadsheets, and I've always been in awe of your devotion, care and love for your boys. You, Dre and Rico have helped countless kitties and beans on the board, including Butters and me. Dre will always be remembered.
:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh, Jayla... :bighug:

I am heartsore for you at hearing the sad, sad news about your darling Dre. Can't believe it... :(

Please try to stay away from the what-ifs. Of all people, that is something you will never ever need to worry about. Dre reached 21 years of age - 21! And that, dearest Jayla, is all down to you being such an extraordinary cat mama, and to the care and devotion you gave to Dre every day of his life - such a rich life, full of love, happiness, and caring. (And the same goes for dear Rico.)

Saying prayers that the universe will send some small comforts your way. My heart goes out to you...

Norse Legend of the Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thank you Elise for helping me through so many situations with both of my boys. Both Rico and Dre benefitted from your support and knowledge. I miss them something awful, they were such a joy to be with. Your girls are lucky to have such a good mommy. :bighug::bighug:

So so sorry about the loss of your sweet Dre @jayla-n-Drevon ! He was such a special cat - and you were the best mom ever and took such good care of him for so many years! I am just heartbroken for you! With my deepest sympathy, Kyle :rb_icon:cat_wings>o:bighug::bighug:
Thank you Kyle the tears are hard to control and coming home is heartbreak all over again. I pray he sends me a sign soon and Rico came running for him:bighug:

I'm so sorry to hear this. I know Jayla did everything she could for him. Fly free sweet Dre. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thank you Carla...I remember the days you helped me with Dre and I am sincerely grateful. You are right I did everything I could for him but in the end it was too much for his body to fight. The last gift I could give him was freedom -as hard as it was I know it was the right thing. I promised him and Rico I would never let them suffer.:bighug:

Aww, Jayla, I am so sorry it was your old man's time. :bighug::bighug: He had such a great life with you. And a long one. That doesn't make it any easier I know.

Fly free Dre, sent your mamma a message when you get to the Bridge. cat_wings>o
Thank you Wendy....and thank you for your guidance over the years. I know you understand the pain all too well.
I hope I get that message from my baby soon:rb_icon:

JT your words hit me right in the heart...thank you so much for helping to regain my strength -- I miss my boys terribly, I was unable to properly grieve my Rico because Dre was so depressed and I knew he need me.
They passed almost a yer apart. Thank you again your words mean so much to me.

Thank you Mogs.....everywhere look I see the boys stuff it will be there a while...:bighug:
Ah, Jayla... :bighug:

I was the same. I left so many things exactly where they were. I needed them to be there. It was all I had to hang on to. It took having to change address before I could move her belongings. I still have her sharps container on my worktop at the new address and the mug and cloth I used to protect her insulin is still in its spot in my fridge.

I hope that seeing the boys' little bits and pieces around you will remind you that their spirits are with you, and always will be.

My heart hurts for you, Jayla. Soul cats are so precious...

Hi Janet, Thank you...I can't seem to stop crying I miss him so much - I know Rico was waiting for him but they were my world...I know you understand. He was doing so good and then he just went down and I couldn't let him suffer for a moment.

THE BOYS....FLY MY ANGELS YOU ALWAYS HAVE A HOME IN MY HEART...I LOVE YOU TO INFINITY....
UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.
This is such a wonderful picture of Dre and Rico.
Don't discard any of Dre's diabetes equipment for a while. You need it just now. I still have Stu's and Rusty's meters and all of the toys that belonged to Rusty, Stu, and Alice (a civvie). Gus plays with them all the time, and he sleeps in their baskets. It's a passing of the torch, as it were. Someday another kitty or two will find a wonderful home with you and will "adopt" your boys' things. :cat::cat:

Thank you Ella, I was looking at the millions of pictures I have from over the years and I was so blessed to have found my soul kittys. I have their special toys along with the toy box for when they got bored. My bf wants us to pick the best picture and have it professionally framed. I guess these feelings are normal but it hurts so bad.

Hi Janet, Thank you...I can't seem to stop crying I miss him so much - I know Rico was waiting for him but they were my world...I know you understand. He was doing so good and then he just went down and I couldn't let him suffer for a moment.
He had a long beautiful life with you. Much longer than he would have with almost any other person. If you keep yourself open to signs for him you may find he still pays you visits.

Jayla - My heart is breaking for you. You gave Dre the best possible life, and he was so fortunate to have you as his human Mom. You will always be such a great example to me.
I will say, you now have to take care of yourself. Giving long term care to an animal or human brings about such a devastating change when they are no longer with us. The duties and routines are gone. You will need time to adjust to life without your precious Dre. I speak from experience. Please take care of yourself.
