YAY!!! Woohoo. Get 1 more and if it's rising still off to bed for youShe is 70 @+7!
What do you recommend I do now? Do I need to stay up to get another test?

Since Butters was so hard to bring up, next time try less gravy and more syrup.
Make notes of what you fed and put them in the Notes part of your SS. Always good to be able to refer to when figuring what works and when. Of course, cats do like to confuse us.
And a reduction in the a.m. to 0.5 units. Congrats.
When you got that 70 @ +7, in theory we could have waited an hour, +8, to get the final test. But, since she's beyond +6 her somewhat nadir time and you really need to get to bed a +7.5 should work. Let's keep our paws crossed she's finished with the funny business!
I was going to reply to the other post that a +7.5 should be good enough. The +8 just gives you the benefit of more time w/o food to ensure the # is coming up on it's own w/o food.I'm going to go get that +7.5...
Rechecked. Got another 47.Can you re-check that # just to make sure. If you get a 40s again put sugar syrup on her gums and give her the HC food
I use a q-tip to rub the syrup on the gums. This isn't emergency measures so don't panic. I'm just tired of her games and really wanna force her up
Thank goodness you got that +7.5. If we would have waited til the +8 as I suggested she might of made her way back into the 30s again. Great job Lyla! Know thy cat

Mandy, it is almost coming on 2am for you and me! I feel like I have learned a tonne from both you and Tanya tonight...and Red jumping in with some tips on the syrup which surely helped get her up.
I am confident I can stay up and handle things from here...if you could guide me on how many more tests I need at this point? If she is higher than 74 @ +8.5, is that enough for me to go to sleep...or do I just give into the all nighter and keep testing? She gets her insulin in 3.5 hours! LOL.
Yay! I'm sure this is sugar/carb influenced though....as you know. I don't quite understand why were not seeing the insulin "wearing" off a bit. This was a bounce breaking cycle which is always very exciting. The only other thing I can think of would be a double dip. They dip for nadir than dip again before their next shot.
A Mod or another member with far more experience may be able to answer why this cycle was sooo dramatic.
Something to throw out there. I'm sure other have probably already mentioned dosing with calipers. The reason I began using calipers is because of the inaccuracy of insulin syringes. Out of a box of 100 syringes only 30 had correctly placed zero lines. Meaning I was giving inconsistent doses. I used my 16x jewelers loop to get a good look at the zero line marks. They were all over the place. Some were high and low and even slanted. Not trying to overwhelm you at all mind you.
I wanna say she's good. But that's what i thought last time. Get one more...if you can in 30 min. If you can't you can always put MC food down and let her free feed which will somewhat "abort" the cycle.Mandy, it is almost coming on 2am for you and me! I'm sure you can handle it from here as well. So, 1 more test in 30 if you can prop your eyes open or free feed(abort) until you need to pull her food prior to testing.

Digital calipers and that all most people use. I like to be super accurate so I bought a light board to illuminate the background.Makes seeing the lines easier. Already had the jewelers loop. Some peeps use magnifying glasses and other types products. Once you get the hang of using the calipers and getting the proper dose using them...it's a lifesaver. You never have to question the syringes or yourself again. Here's a link on how to use them https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/dosing-with-calipers-updated-w-videos.79851/ I had a love/hate relationship with them in the beginning but learned to rely on them. Some other members use them as well. @Sue and Luci is one.Funny enough, I had noticed that you have calipers in your signature. I have been trying the eyeball method and keeping a pre-filled syringe to compare against, but it is really hard to do.
Are calipers easy to use? Do you need any other special equipment or just digital calipers and a 16x jeweler's loop?

100% I will! It is hard to imagine right now that I will know enough to help others, but if that day comes I will absolutely do it with pleasure. You're very welcome BTW. I was helped a bunch in the beginning. It's nice to keep the tradition alive. I'm sure you'll pass the favor along down the line![]()
Yes we are great! Thank you again!!Are you good? If you're sure you guys are fine I'll be off. I know you can handle everything

Have a good night! What a ride Butter’s has been giving you! You’re doing such a great job! Hopefully those BG numbers start to rise so you can get some sleep tonight! If not there’s always coffee![]()

I will do that. Sleep well! Thank you again. If for some reason Butters gets crazy again...you know the drill. Sugar syrup is you friend. Also if you need support look on the main forum page and tag someone you think can help...or just tag someone
Goodnight Lyla. Be good Butters!
99 @+8.75. Can't wait to see what AMPS will be three hours from now after all the syrup I gave her @+7.5.![]()
Good Morning!
Looks like the excitement didn't quite end last night
Hope the last part of the cycle went OK?
I did a final test at 8.75 and was confident she wouldn't drop before her AMPS.
