Things have been going pretty good with him on Tresiba. We sat at 2.13u for awhile and in just about a weeks time, he has earned 2 reductions! I am so loving him on the this. He is doing a little bouncing still but seems to recover pretty quickly, which is so nice. If yall are following along on his SS, I am bad about keeping the numbers up to date, but usually at least twice a week I will get them entered.

Zeke's looking good! I'm so glad the reductions seem to be holding for you :cat: The bounces aren't lasting long, and for the most part are staying in the low yellows, so that's another great thing  By any chance do you know where Zeke's renal threshold is? I know Sam's was around 300 on the AT2; it's amazing the range there can be from cat to cat.

:joyful: Sam's back in remission, which I'm so, so grateful for. I had to start a new Tresiba pen back when he was sick, and it's still mostly full. So I'll take it out of the fridge occasionally and waggle it at the other cats. "Okay, I don't want this to go to waste! Who wants a pokey pokey?"

...And Sam comes running while the other cats scatter lol! So I pretend to give Sam his shot, then a treat, while the other cats glare from their hiding places. :p I'm easily entertained.

Hopefully Zeke will keep doing well and earning more reductions. Go Zeke, go!

Sadly I don't. How would I find that out?

Sorry, I didn't reply sooner. Been chaos around here. Have learned the hard way that Lunesta is addictive. :banghead: Finally got my medical cannabis card so stopped taking it and let me tell you, it isn't fun. :( At least I am finally starting to feel much better!

Zeke is still doing great. For a few, thought that we were gonna have to raise him back up but nope. :) He has been sailing through and we are all enjoying the great numbers! He is getting playful again and it is funny watching him play with Cookie, our newest little girl.

There's probably better ways of finding renal threshold, but what I did with Sam is, when I was doing a mini-curve and his numbers were trending higher (above 250-ish on the AT2) I'd try my best to get a urine sample a few hours after the higher reading. Then I'd test by dip stick; I have One Step Vet 10 sticks that test all sorts of things -- but the important part for this, is that they test glucose in the urine. :cat: A simpler dip stick that only tests glucose, or glucose and ketones, would work just as well. So if I tested Sam's BG and it came back, say, 270, and the urine test a few hours later came back negative for glucose, I figured Sam's renal threshold is above that point. Another day, and if Sam's BG is 310, and his urine test came back positive, I knew Sam's threshold was likely somewhere below 310. It took a while, and it's not exact, but I was able to figure that Sam's threshold -- on the AT2 -- was around 300. On a human meter, it would probably be best to start checking at 240 and higher. If you get positives at the 240 level, you might want to start checking at 220, or even 200 -- but I would hope 240 would be a good starting point :bighug:

:bighug: It's really difficult, when a prescription that you've been on does its best to kick you in the hiney when you try to stop taking it. Doctors should really be clearer when prescribing that; "Oh, by the way, if you ever try to stop taking this drug, it will do its best to kill you. Or you'll wish you were dead." Instead, all we usually get are tiny warnings, "May be habit forming, notify doctor before stopping this medication." I'm so glad you're feeling better, though! :bighug::bighug::bighug: I so wish the federal government would step back when it comes to medical cannabis. The Schedule I classification is ridiculous. o_O I personally blame the tobacco lobby.

Oh, those readings are looking nice! It's wonderful to see a week without yellows! And Zeke playing with Cookie, squee! Is Mr. Kitty still doing well with his remission?

Sam's remission is going well; he lost a lot of weight when he was sick, and he's trying his best to pack it all back on. "No, Sam, you do not need a third can of Friskies today! No. No! Okay, put the claws down, I'm getting the can, back away and nobody gets hurt -- especially me! Sheesh!" Lol!

We actually used to do that way to keep an eye on Zeke's ketones. We had a ladle that hung near the litter box so it would be ready when we spotted him in it. The looks we would get when we would slide it under his butt! With his numbers now though, good chance we might not get high enough numbers to be able to really tell, which is a really good thing! Plus, the litter box is now in a different room, so the chance of catching him in it is extremely slim now. (It used to be in my kitchen, yuck!)

Racism is the main reason it gained that classification to begin with. Was around the time when blacks where gaining their rights and the "government" thought it was primarily blacks who used cannabis. So what better way to make them look worse and to help slow down them gaining rights, then make them be criminals.

Yep, doing great! We have learned that he loves catching mice, but killing them not so much! lol. He will swat at them and play catch with them for awhile, then grows tired of them lol. The last one, Kitty lost it under hubbies recliner. He thought it got away, but the next day he got a hint of the smell. The mouse got away from Kitty by climbing inside the recliner and dying!

Hubby is gonna start watching more carefully the next time he catches one lol.

Great that he is doing so much better! Yes, we must respect the death blades! :D

    Hello :)

Thought I'd drop in and check on Zeke lol! :cat: It was surprising how high he went with the missed shot on 7-25, but it looks like he came back down fairly easily afterwards. I hope Zeke, Kitty, and Cookie are doing well! Along with all the 'beans in the house :bighug:

 Recliners are absolute sanctuaries for critters let loose by playful cats. My first cat, Itsie, lost birds, mice, and even a gopher! under the recliner. Really not a good time, that last one :blackeye: I still have nightmares of "Gopherzilla". I put that feller in a plastic mouse cage I had, so he could recover. So he started chewing the lid apart. So on went a cookie sheet, with a brick on top, to hold the top down. When Gopherzilla started lifting the cookie sheet + brick up off the cage -- he was set free in the field to heal on his own terms.

Yeah, was crazy how high he flew that day. He has had a couple small little bounces but quickly as recovered. We will probably try a few tests in the middle of some day cycles to see how he is currently doing. Been nice not having to worry about him being all over the place like he used to do.

I will never forget when I was growing up and my mom was raising minpins! They had a doggie door so even during the night they could go outside if they needed. Well, while one of the litters was still small, probably only 5 weeks or so, guess momma wanted to bring them some food in and brought in a mole! Needless to say, we got woke up to a puppy screaming bloody murder cause it was terrified and had just gotten bitten on the face. The puppies had ran to hide behind the couch, well so did the mole! lol

Oh, I see you went back to 2u! And that is a lovely run of numbers! :bighug: I know it was such a relief to me when Sam leveled out. Since I couldn't test properly -- but I really didn't have to worry worry anymore about surprise hypos coming out of nowhere. Umm, I'm not sure too many people here would approve of the lack of mid-cycle tests, but for me, I could trust that Sam was cruising along without a single dip or bump. I hope Zeke's well on his way there, too!

LOL! Oh gosh, that poor puppy! Poor all of you; that had to be a terrible way to wake up in the middle of the night. I had a doggie door, too  And a couple of times each week, Itsie left me a wee little beak, and maybe a foot or two amongst a whole lot of feathers. Now days, all I have to deal with is Sam running up to me proudly with a lizard tail in his mouth o_O
