GA Karen and Doodles

Dear L & B and L family ,

For those of you that remember Karen and Doodles, it’s with sadness and shock that I learned of her passing. Her husband had only said that she “ passed the other day” and didn’t say how. He asked for prayers.

Her last post on FB was on Wednesday and her husband’s on her page was Thursday afternoon.

Thought y’all would like to know.

I'm so very sad to read this, Karen was one of the people here who helped me when I first joined. I have missed seeing her here. I wanted to send my heartfelt condolences to her family, and prayers. Thanks for taking a moment to let her FD family know, Bobbie.

Unbelievable. They were big presences here. She had Doodles tattooed on her back shoulder so he would always be with her. Now they are reunited. Rest peacefully my friend.
Yep , I had forgotten the Doodles tattoo. It’s just so sad. I’m still reeling from the news. Here one day and then gone!

Wow. I wonder what happened. I was just reading our conversations that we had. So sad. Shocking.

This is such sad news, she was a major contributor here and helped me out tremendously early on. You could always count on her (& Lizzy) being on here first every morning and giving advice, guidance and support to everybody.

She was originally from my area and we shared many PMs after we came to realize we had mutual friends and even discovered I was at her future house once at a party hosted by her-to-be husband (before they met). They eventually moved to AZ.

She was great person with a heart of gold. Here are some pictures to share in memory of Karen who I never met but consider a good friend.

She got married at the infamous north jersey roadhouse known as ''The Notch", where she met her husband Joe "Dingo". They are in the middle:

Thanks, Bobbe.

I am beyond devastated as many of you are. I got very close to Karen here and, as Wendy said, we got to meet when Wendy, Karen, and Liz (Zener’s mom) all came to our home. Karen just lived up the road in Phoenix until they recently moved to SC. We talked frequently. I just spoke with her a few weeks ago and they were happy. She was such a beautiful, beautiful soul. She was the kind of friend you would always want to have. Her heart was so pure and kind. She was so compassionate and she loved her cats, especially her beautiful Doodles, so much. I am happy she is with her baby boy but this world will be so much darker without her shining presence.

I can’t quit thinking about Joe, Moo, Leo, and Karen’s Mom and stepfather. Sending condolences just doesn’t seem enough for the enormous hole she leaves in their lives.

Fly free, my friend. I love you. I will miss you so much.

I remember when y’all met up!

I didn't get to know Doodles, but Karen was still quite active on the board in my earlier days here, and she was always so helpful and kind. It looks like her last FDMB post was right after Felix's cardiomyopathy diagnosis, when she shared her experience of Doodles's heart disease and was characteristically informative and compassionate.

Thanks for letting us know, Bobbie, and thanks to those who posted pictures and memories.

I didn't know Karen&Doodles but am very saddened to hear this news...

I've often wondered what would happen if...

Well you know...sometimes our DH's aren't exactly 'in touch' with this group of folks...

I suppose it's one of those things we all need to think about...the what if's ... not a pleasant thing to have to do...but I suppose necessary.

It does sound like she was a legend and has left you all with wonderful memories.

May she rest in peace and regards to her husband.

This is such sad and shocking news. Karen was a wonderful MamaBean to all of her beloved furbabies...such a big heart. She was also a huge help to me earlier this year, when my young kitty, Holly, was diagnosed with stomatitis and needed all of her teeth extracted; she had been through the same thing with her young boy, Leo. She will be missed by many....

I’m so very sorry to hear this. My deepest condolences to Karen’s husband and family and to all of you who knew her and were her friends. :(

It’s obvious from reading all your posts, that she was an amazing person and I wish I had known her. RIP Karen. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Very sad news indeed. LantusLevLand has lost a kind soul. Our condolences to her husband, family and friends. We had a wonderful lunch in Tucson that day, I can't remember details of our conversation, except that it focused on CATS! Shocking, I know. :-) We are eternally grateful for finding this crazy cat tribe, and Karen was surely one of our leaders. Hugs to all, as we mourn and remember Karen.
Liz

I was deeply saddened when Marje informed me of Karen's tragic passing, my sincere condolences to her husband and family at this very sad time. Karen and Doodles were so much a part of the Board when I was in need of help, she was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful to everyone and will be sorely missed. Fly free dear Karen and be at peace as you are reunited once again with your soulkitty Doodles. God bless :rb_icon:

@Bronx's dad (GA), Paul the Great Notch was on Rt 46 in Little Falls, correct?

@Karen & Lily Yep, still there. Was saved twice. Way back in like the 30s or 40s, it was rolled on logs from 46E to 46W due to the expansion of 46. Recently, they redid the the rt 3 & 46 interchange and The Notch was on the chopping block, but so many people fought for it to stay so they built the roadways around it. Live music every night as always. I was supposed to meet up with Karen & Joe when they were in NJ for a visit but our timing was off and they showed up after I left :(

My heart hurts hearing this. While I never got to really get to know Doodles, our kitties were both part of the exclusive IAA club. Karen was a fount of knowledge and she will be greatly missed on this forum. My heart goes out to her family.

OMG just reading this Karen was my savior when I switched from Prozinc to Levemir we had many PM conversations and got to trade Chicago stories Thanks for all you did, Karen You were an angel here and now you’re a real one. Very sad

I didnt know her but am sad for her passing. Such a HIT fdmb has taken these last few years. Her memory will live on.
My deepest condolences to her husband, family and friends. :(:rb_icon::(

Such sad news. I am not on the board much anymore and I just happened to come across this post as I was looking up some of the “old-timers” today. Karen and I joined the board around the same time and Doodles and Mandarin’s journeys were so similar in the beginning and I could always count on Karen for advice, encouragement and kind words when things weren’t going so well. What a huge loss!
