I just switched Jazzy to Lantus this morning. He was given .5 unit and I'm just wondering if his levels are dropping too quickly?
on your spreadsheet, you can also click on the number of the row where you switched over to lantus, and then go to the insert menu and add row (above) then you can type in Switch to Lantus in cells, if you want.
Ok, thank you for your help. I'll do this in the future.Welcome to the forum!!
FWIW, some cats have a marked initial response to a chance in insulin. It looks like Jazzy is one of those kitties. Also, with Lantus, dosing decisions are based on the lowest number in the cycle. Thus, it's important to get more tests than your pre-shot numbers. You'll want to get a minimum of a pre-shot test for both the AM and PM cycles and at the very least, one additional test during each cycle.
A couple of housekeeping details...
To insert a row on your spreadsheet, click on the row number on the far left for today This will highlight the row. Most likely on your edit tab, there's a command for insert. This will insert a row. Highlight the new row. There should be a Merge cells command (or merge and center). Click on that button and it will remove the individual cells. Type something in like, Switched from Caninsulin to Lantus.
You may want to look over the New to the Group sticky note. This reviews the basics for how this forum works. We have a few quirky ways of doing things. One of those basics is what you put in the subject line of your thread. This is a busy forum so it's helpful to keep information consistent. You want to include the following in your subject line:
Today's date----Your cat's name----AMPS-#, +time-#...PMPS-#, etc.
This lets us see what's going on with Jazzy's numbers without having to open your thread. For some of the experienced members, we may be able to spot a concern just by looking at the numbers.
Please let us know if you have questions. If you do, put a note in the subject line.
Ok, sounds good for waiting to test until the PMPS. Honestly, he's getting pretty pissed off with all the testing today Lol. So I'm sure he'll appreciate the break.Great Job. You probably won't need to check again until PMPS. The pink is probably a bit of a bounce from the blue. It's completely normal. You'll most likely see more improvement in the next few days as the depot builds. Hang in there!
