Okay so, I’ve been monitoring her +2 in the evenings for a few days now. And I owe that to @Deb & Wink who twisted my arm ever so gently and kindly and it’s yet one more thing we have now successfully added to the routine, so thank you Deb! I have a few questions so here we go:
1. Her midday BG has stayed pretty high, higher than 150 the last few days and I’m thinking that I should increase the dose. Of course when she was on 3units it dropped too low, so I’m wondering even though we say to have the same dose am and pm, if I should try 3 units in the am and keep the 2.75 at night when she eats a lot less, which brings me to my next question
2. I don’t know what to do to get her to eat overnight. I looked into the feeder with chip and timer and I honestly doubt she’ll use it. It’s hard enough to get her to eat during the day. I have to hold up the bowl to her face, rotate, sometimes help with my finger. Yes, she’s got me wrapped around her little tiny adorable pink paw but it’s the only way she eats now. I left a food bowl by her bed in the evening and nothing. I’ve tried the catsicles idea too and again nothing. Any other thoughts?
3. When you guys look at the ss, please look at the notes column where I indicated all the days she woke up nauseated and vomited. I read a catcentric article Wendy shared with me about how cats should not be on omeprazol and/or Pepcid long term and now I’m only giving her Pepcid at night but the nausea/vomit is happening more frequently. She eats okay after the ondansetron sets in. I have a vet appointment on Tuesday for a senior blood panel to rule out low potassium and/or electrolytes. I also feel she drinks very little water. I feel like somedays she doesn’t drink at all but she pees 2-3 times a day so go figure...
4. I really want to transition her to a better food and I found Rawz which seems to not have any red flag ingredients like agar agar (bummed that Hounds and Gatos has that) or peas or anything else bad for her. They also say they source all the meat locally humanely and it’s all human grade. They have a rabbit pumpkin flavor the rep I spoke with said works really well for the consumers who have cats with IBD and it’s still only about 7% carbs. The salmon is less than 2%. I guess I just want a few others to take a loot and make sure I didn’t miss anything
