Smokeys numbers have been running lower. I'm curious when I shouldn't shoot
It depends on the situation, which method (TR vs SLGS), and with ketones lurking in the background we are more aggressive than the base recommendations. Usually, we keep moving the no-shoot threshhold down gradually as you gather more data.
I see a 155 on your spreadsheet. I think that is safe to shoot, as long as you can monitor this morning. How do you feel about that?
Also his ketones today and every day prior has been .3 or less on a blood meter ... that is considered negative right
He's moving up... Can you monitor tonight, with plenty of supplies? This is basically the number you shot this morning, and he had a nice safe day in decent numbers.
No worries Julie, you are doing great. It is very hard to get used to lower preshots, we have all been there. You may not need to stay up all night, most of us find a +2 will tell us a lot about what the cycle will be like.
Julie, if I understand correctly you are 1 hour past your original preshot test? No food while you were stalling?
I don't have kids (yet) so can't understand what that's like however I am one who doesn't function at all without sleep so my strategy is to set alarms in the middle of the night if I am worried and think I may need to monitor. I try and keep my shot schedule at 6am/6pm which gives me several hours to get at least one reading before bed (anywhere between +2 and +4) and that's usually a good indicator on whether I need to monitor. As you gather more data you'll become more comfortable with the lower numbers and have a better idea of how he'll react/handle it - and you'll get more sleep! Its really hard for me to stay up all night with two young kiddos so it worries me
+2 same as pre-shot - normal cycle - down to nadir and back up
+2 lower than pre-shot - warning that cat may go much lower later - monitor more
+2 higher than pre-shot - signals a bounce, take a break from monitoring
Lovely, and appy is good so far? Normally whenever I've had a higher +2 after preshot, I still feed some mini meals, but I don't worry too much about seeing an active cycle. Is it okay if I reserve judgment until I see a +2?
He’s likely getting a food spike. Max often did so for him a +3 let me know if he was going to have an active cycle. I think onset is a bit later like Max and a food bump is what you are seeing. What does the bounce mean ? I feel like hes higher at +2 alot

I was just peeking at your SS, thinking we were close to +2. Depending on what you are feeding, he may decide to stay in the 200s, he may not be so used to getting into the 90s yet. He did have a great day, if you happen to be up for another hour yet, a +3 would say for certain if he's hanging in the 200s, and then you'd be pretty safe to get to bed. I can't see him coming down sharply tonight, but again, I feed minimeals so if Smokey isn't snacking much after you go to bed, that makes your situation a little different than mine.
