After yesterday’s “Rainbow Day” (Thanks to @Wendy&Neko, @Sienne and Gabby (GA) and @Nan & Amber (GA) for the guidance) we’re trying a new protocol with Disco, feeding MC snacks to try and ward off a downward spiral. Another semi-sleepless night for me but you do what you gotta do. I’ll test him again at +9.25. Keep your paws crossed!

I was a little unclear on whether his snacks now are to be all supposed to be MC or just continue with the LC snacks at his spot tests until he starts dropping at the +9.5 or +10 test but all his + tests after his PMPS have been MC (Fancy Feast Grilled varieties).

So far so good!

On the MC--when? question, it's an experiment. To me, it makes sense to do what you are doing-- start with the extreme end (all MC), and then after a few cycles, if it seems too much, start subbing in the LC on the earlier feedings. Just the thought of starting off having to do the calculus about when exactly the MC is needed gives me a headache!

Hope he behaves himself today!

Gosh Teri, I'm sorry no one is replying. Let me see if I can go through yesterday's condo to find exact instructions on how to feed Disco prior to AMPS. I'm sure you've probably already done that though. JMO, I don't' think I'd use the HC this close to AMPS, unless instructed to do so. Goodness what a quandary.:banghead:

@Wendy&Neko said: “Carbs should be worn off in about two hours. For the AM cycle, often got a +9 or +9.5 to make sure carbs were worn off preshot. Good luck with the experiment.”
If I hadn’t retested I would be going on the 32 so I’m thinking I should feed HC and maybe even skip shot Either that or cancel my dentist appointment even if I get a cancellation charge says it’s such late notice

 :nailbiting: :woot: :woot: :woot: !!!!!!

Not just a green shot, but a 59! Well done!

If you still have the dentist appointment, when and how long is it likely to be? Depending on the timing, it could work out. That said, I'd get a +1 if at all possible-- the drop from 76 could be nothing/meter variance, but you want to keep an eye on him while he's down in this zone.

No more funny business today, OK Disco?

I would think if there’s no delays the dental appointment will take about an hour and it’s about 10 minutes from my house. I’m going to test him one more time before I leave home, and take him with me in case there’s a break where I can run out to the car and test him if it runs longer. It’s just a first time new patient exam so they’re not really doing any treatment and I’m not sure if they’ll take x-rays today or not probably but nothing else

That sounds like a good plan. Unless he decides to swan-dive back down below 50 at exactly the wrong time (Disco: I know you read these condos but don't let this give you any ideas!), you should be able to pop out for an hour or even two. Worst comes to worst, if it turns out to be difficult to bring him for some reason, you can just leave out some carbs for him to munch on. But I think he'll be good (right, Disco???).

Wow, Teri, I just was looking at Disco's spreadsheet and realized that yesterday he really lived up to his "rainbow kitty" nickname-- he hit every color except black! Hope he's not going to try for the same today, tell him blues are a nice place to hang for a while...

Yeah, not sure I was “feelin’ the rainbow” but I am learning along with others who may or may not have been in similar situations he does seem quite unique in his needs though, but then, he’s my first sugar cat
